Different accents…
Anyone else find themselves using different accents when they talk to different people? I do it unintentionally. I had suspected that I did it, but today, while talking to my eight year old made it official!!!
My husband is full Samoan and from Samoa. You know Samoa, the place they work their asses off, get their asses beaten by their elders if they do wrong Samoa. lol Well, then I talk to him on the phone, I noticed I do more of an island accent/talk. I blame him for the way he talks and also blame me for living in Hawaii for a year+. LOL But my biggest accent kicks in when I talk to my eight year old.
The more he pisses me off about something, the heavier my Southern mama voice kicks in. Please, note, that I don’t normally have a Southern mama voice. LOL. This morning takes the cake. He was being such a brat about getting ready for school. I took his computer away for his attitude and my “voice” began. “Christopher Aiden, I’m not going to tell you again!” (Try saying that in a Southern mama voice. It’s a hoot! HA!) Well, I ended up telling “Christopher Aiden” a few more times. He lost his computer, his phone, and a list of other items each ‘attitude’ he had. The use of his name with a Southern mama drawl made me giggle each time, but being ‘mom’ I had to play it cool and keep my angry face on.
Anyone else get an accent when they get emotional? Or am I simply a weirdo?
Happy Reading & XoXo,
