Not only do we love her, but we like her, too.

This weekend, my sister and I hosted a surprise birthday for my mom. People came from near and far.

Here's my sweet cousin, who drove from Rhode Island with my aunt and uncle:

As usual, we made WAY too much food. You can see everything on the table untouched as everyone squeezed onto the screened-in porch to enjoy the unusually warm and sunny fall day.

This is my mom with her dear friend Laura, who is over 90! Laura and her husband used to own a lovely boutique and my mom worked there for many years.

This picture shows my dad and his college roommate and other friends my parents have known since high school.

Here's my mom chatting with a mix of relatives and long-time friends. This is what she looked like all day. Chatting happily in small circles. And laughing laughing laughing.

When my sister was getting ready for the party, she asked my 6 y-o nephew to help her make a sign for our mom with his magnetic letters. Instead of writing "We love you" he insisted that it should say this:

Everyone thought this was hysterical.

And then my mom told us that when she applied to college, her parents had to write a letter of support. They ended the letter by saying, "Not only do we love our daughter very much, but we like her, too."

Grammy, we love and like you very much as well. Sooooooo much.

xoxo
