Creative Hibernation
Over the next several weeks I'll be entering what I refer to as a Creative Hibernation. I'll be minimising distractions where possible and immersing myself in my creative projects (around other obligations etc). The aim is to complete even more projects than I have up to this point, or at least take steps towards completing more items. I also need to spend more time organising my files and projects, which will also help push me towards completing more items.
I can't fully withdraw into my bubble, but I'll be trying to shut out distractions where I can. And I'll be consuming a lot less of other people's work (to give my own ideas and voice a chance to be heard).
pic source: https://www.publicdomainpictures.netToday I have already completed 5 sloppy first drafts - 4 for pre-existing ideas, and one for a new idea that came to me today. The new idea is for another illustrated kid's book and is called "Scat!". It's about a cat that needs love but only finds hatred and cruelty wherever he goes.
The other drafts were "The Anxious Mermaid", also an illustrated kid's book, about a Mermaid that develops a fear of being under water. This was an idea that I've been playing with for a while.
The other three drafts all belong to a series first conceived of in 2014: "The Undead Undergarments". These books are intended for kids that are struggling with learning to read. They will be illustrated and will hopefully engage those that find other "readers" a little bit dull. The books feature Zombie Socks, a laundry pile monster, undead undergarments of course and more.
At this stage the drafts are sloppy, but they are drafts and that is what matters. They are now one step closer to being completed than there were yesterday.
I'll post regular updates over on Patreon and I'll try to keep the blog updates, as I immerse myself in this creative bubble.
