My Thoughts from Recent News

Hey, everyone. Hope you guys have are having a lovely day. I know I haven't been posting a lot, but I try to when I get the chance (or when I get motivated). That's the same for writing. Honestly, I have been trying to write more since I last publish my last book The Serpent Girl (check out the preview!). I hope to have my creative juices flowing, but I don't know what's happening. But don't worry! I'm sure I can pull through.

I was meaning to address something important in this blog, today, but I wasn't feeling in the mood because of personal reasons. Now that I'm in a better mood, I really want to get this out of the way. But first, you need to know where I actually come from and the back story of this issue.

As you may know, I'm born in America, and my parents are born in India. But you don't know EXACTLY where they come from. My parents born in Kochi, which is the south part of India. Unfortunately, there have been issues surfacing there, and the most significant news that keeps resurfacing was this actor that I used to love (I will not specify who).

I used to love him as kid, because he was always funny in movies. But I've heard that he had been going through legal troubles, and those have sickened me. From this month (or last month) of last year, he was arrested because he ordered some guys to get the actress and rape her. And for evidence that she was raped, he wanted his henchmen to record themselves raping the actress.

But then few months later, the actor was released through bail. But I think the trial may be continuing. I haven't been sure, because I haven't been up-to-date with the news. Sometimes, my parents would tell me what happens.

I think what was even worse was that this year, the organization that the actor was in was reinstated, even though they have suspended him after being arrested for sexual assault. And the person who reinstated the actor was the biggest actor of the film industry and was also my family and I's favorite actor (I will still not state who), which I am very disappointed now. If you must know, the organization is called the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), and they help actors within the industry and have better relations, along with funding actors and actresses who are low on finances and are retired.

To me, I feel like the actor is getting away, while desi girls like me have no voice from a thousand others, who are standing by his side. And the worst part is that people worship big actors as if they're big heroes and that they have no flaws. Now I actually how women feel when they come across big actors, because almost every people could worship a big actor.

But here's the thing: this doesn't mean that there's no hope. There are people out there who don't respect the actor, accusing him for sexual assault. And I think people are starting to see true colors and are going to fight back. Maybe one day, they would start realizing that this is an occurring problem for women in India, and they would start respecting women more than just blame them. I know that I, too, would love to make a difference and help these women out who feel like they were outcasts to their own society, because they have been looked down upon something that they were not able to control.

For now, though, I'm just saddened by my favorite actor's decision on reinstating the actor, along with the others who showed full support. And with that, I have lost respect with them. But as for the others who were appalled by the choice, I'm very happy, because you have no idea what it means to me. And it comes to show that there are some people who understand what is right or wrong. More importantly, people, men and women, could understand what a woman feels and how they struggle by a thousand down lookers.

I'm sorry that I have been going through a rant, but I just want to get it out there. And I hope this was informative for you and that you learned something. If you think this is an issue, leave a comment below. And I do encourage you all to stand up and understand what's right and wrong, and help a person in need if they feel vulnerable. Until then, stay up-to-date with my posts and take care, you guys.
