Rejuvenate and Inspire

As I write this blog, I’m sitting out on the side deck of a cutesy little bakery that opened up in our town. A light breeze lifts my hair and a sweet, lemony scent tickles my nose. It’s the stuff of a contemporary romance novel and I’m eating it up. I can’t recall the last time I relaxed and indulged myself like this on a weekday (I barely indulge myself like this on the weekends either as there is always something to do).

I sit here and smile. The word that comes to mind is rejuvenating. Can you recall the last time you did something to rejuvenate yourself? We live in the go go go of the world and while our intention isn’t necessarily to bypass our own care, the truth is that for a great many of us, we do exactly that. I’m not sure why that is… I know in my particular case, it’s easier to put myself on a back burner than my kids, my husband or even other family members.

Sitting outside on a beautiful spring day, it’s easy for the mind to find inspiration— easy to paint scene after scene and let your fingers translate them into words. It reminds me of days when I spent hours upon hours writing. Only the music I listened to influenced my mood, enhancing the scenes I wrote. There is something wistful in recalling days like this. These were days I loved and can’t wait to get back to. Moments like this were I’m relaxed and inspired help me remember this.

Happy writing this week!
