No More Gore Ratings

Some time ago, I created a ‘Gore Rating System‘ to help readers find stories they’d like and steer clear of ones they wouldn’t. My incredibly insightful idea was to give my gorier horror stories a rating of 1,2, or 3 blood drops, based on how gross it was.

This has caused me endless hassles. “This is a creepy story,  but it has some gore.” “Is this story more extreme than that one?” “Would having a jaw torn off be worthy of 2 or 3 blood drops?” And so on. It’s tricky.

Besides the fact that everyone has their own likes and levels of what they can handle, including me, it’s almost impossible to have this rating system work. I have a fantasy story where someone is beheaded, but I don’t consider it gory and therefore it had no blood drops beside the title. So I’m removing the blood drops alltogether. Stories will remain listed under the categories of Horror (creepy, gory, or erotic), Fantasy & SciFi, and Erotica. I’m going to leave it up to the reader, who I’m sure is smart enough to work out what they should read.
