Do’s and Don’ts of Posting Your Travel Experience on Social Media

Do’s and Don’ts of posting your travel experience on social media _________________________________________________________________________________ “Beep!” your phone lights up and you see 2 more people have liked your picture. With the new-age speedy scrollers, people are live all day and all night, literally. The cliched photos, the constant check-ins, the super-zoomed in pictures of your cocktails, the boarding passes, we have seen it all, and we have done it all. But have you ever realized that you’ve been doing it all wrong all this while? Plan your vacation to your dream location, but here are a few do’s and don’ts of posting your travel. Not too many filters please! Do not make your picture look too dramatic. Do not go too far editing the pictures. That way, most pictures just end up looking bizarre and far from reality. Stop with the narcissism Do not make your Instagram feed about only you! Post inspiring pictures that would make people want to travel Use your social media posts to educate, inspire, and delight your followers. Add travel tips and travel guides, do’s and don’t that would enhance others’ travel experience. Quality over quantity, always! Yes, you are the Eiffel Tower, but do you really need to post 10 pictures of the same monument? Keep its short, keep it sassy! Describe your photos A little background information to tell a story will stay long in people’s memories. Write something about what made you click a particular picture, or what was your inspiration when you decided to write a particular blog. #UseHashtags Now this is tricky. You don’t want to overdo it yet want to add enough hashtags so as your posts reach the wider range of audiences. Tag appropriate accounts Do not unnecessarily go on tagging the official accounts of the many tourism boards, or that of the accounts with over a million followers hoping for a retweet or a repost. Only tag the ones that are relevant. Avoid the clichéd shots Feet on the beach? Holding the tip of the Taj Mahal? Kissing the Sphinx? Duck faces? We have seen it a thousand times already. Get creative and click the not-so-seen-before poses. No hotel rooms! No one is really interested in looking at your messy hotel rooms. Just do not post pictures of your hotel rooms. Never brag Do not cross over that sacred line. Humble bragging is okay but bragging to the point […]
