cat diet…actually working.

It’s not easy: we’ve got one never-gains-weight and one easy-keeper, and feeding one enough while not having the other blimp up is not easy, but we’re managing. Now that we’ve fixed the yard as escape-proof, we can let them both out, then feed a LITTLE after they’ve had their constitutional. And feed reduced portions. And keep Shu out of Sei’s dish. I am glad to say that in only a week, Shu is reacquiring a waist, and is starting to play again. Hurrah for us. Feeding them separately so that Shu does not get half of Sei’s is a big help. It also helps Sei not gulp his food nervously with looks over his shoulder. I’ll hand out a 3-kibble snack if Shu is being desperate, but over all, I think we’re winning. The mild winter is helping. We have had clear ground a lot of the winter. They really are not fond of snow.

Tina Oh boy - I have fought the diet battle with my own kitties - separate feeding does help. But Junior (my very big, very round tiger stripe) is so food obsessed I actually had to install baby locks on all of my cupboards because he would get into them, pull stuff out and shred the packaging any time I was not in the kitchen to try and get more food. So keep an eye on your cupboards!!

Freyja We may have to install baby locks on our cabinets because of cats and to keep earthquake damage down. It works. We had to get a reduced calorie kibble because Honor loves her kibble and loves to lead us to the food dishes to show us how much she loves her kibble. She's starting to get a bit round. Once we get into our house when all the reno work is done (we figure 13 Feb) we can give her more of a workout (once we unpack and find the laser pointers).

Freyja Rescheduling to 16 Feb because I have a doc appt. and can't have cable/internet install at the same time, so they'll be there at the later date. Bruce is chuckling because Mac is trying to discuss something with him. Mac's been chattier since his littermate died in December of a rapid-growing lymphoma.

We've done the lower cal kibble before and Honor loved that too. She loves kibble and can be picky about gooshyfood.

Freyja Bastet would have been the height of hubris. Besides, I don't speak ancient Egyptian. I do speak some Norwegian.
