My Journey
The past six months of my life have felt like a dream come true. On March 30th 2011 my debut novel Yesterday's Lies was released. I had not set out to be an author but I have always loved to read and write. My writing was confined to my personal journals until a tragic event in the summer of 2010 unlocked the creative energy inside of me and gave me the courage to pursue becoming a published author.
One day in August 2010 while I was on my way to work I suffered a mild stroke. During my time at home recovering I was reading and writing in my journals constantly. One night after an intense day of physical therapy to regain the full use of my left hand and leg I was inspired to write. A story came to me and I sat down at my computer and started typing. The story or Jada and Toni flowed from me. I worked day and night over the next four to six weeks in between trips to physical therapy.
Never before had I experienced such a burst of creative energy. Prior to my stroke I was considered a very analytical person hence my career choice as a Director of Information Technology. Post stroke a new Terri emerged. I was more expressive than ever. Writing in my journal wasn't enough. I had a story to tell. I finished Yesterday's Lies and embarked on the journey of self publishing my book. I also started writing poetry again and have published a poem titled Life Partner in an anthology of love stories and poetry titled Bubblin Brown Sugar.
Since my novel was released I have traveled all over promoting myself and the book. I have met some wonderful people (author's, readers and many book clubs) along the way. My journey has just begun and I continue to write poetry and I am working on book # 2 which is a sequel to Yesterday's Lies. If you have read Yesterday's Lies I would love to hear from you. I love feedback from my readers. Also the sequel is in progress. If you have not WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR???
