Crocodile Cries

I hear your desperate cries

through the arms splashing

in the lake.

Crocodile skin

breaks against the surface,

you scream louder in panic.

Alarmed, I take a step back

and start to charge

for a dive into the waters.

I am about to save you. I almost leapt.

Before I reach the edge of land,

I remember,

the crocodile skin

belongs to your lower half,

and so I  halt, turn my back

abandoning you and your crocodile cries.
