Sometimes I feel a little, I don't know, like I'm boasting, when I post one of these reviews. That's not what I mean for it to be like at all.
Did you ever see the movie
American Dreamer? JoBeth William's character is a much put-upon housewife who fantasizes about living the life of the heroine in a series of adventure novels. She enters a writing contest run by the author's publishing house to write a chapter 'in the style of the Rebecca Ryan novels'.
The scene in which she discovers that she actually won the contest is delightful. She had just literally fallen in through the door, spilling groceries as she trips over the mail on the floor. She collapses in a heap and finds the envelope from the contest. When she realizes she's won, that she is going to fly to Paris and meet her favorite author, she is giddy with excitement--and looks around to find someone to share it with--but she's alone in the house.
That's a little like what running across
this lovely little review of Crying for the Moon was like for me. I just had to share!
