Rising U.K. pop superstar Dua Lipa has released her “Live Acoustic EP.” The EP, featuring a collaboration with Gallant and an acoustic version of her smash hit single “New Rules,” is available now. This release celebrates Dua recently selling a milestone 1.2 million albums and more than 8.5 million singles worldwide, with “New Rules” officially entering the top 10 on the U.S. Top 40 Chart.
Dua has truly made 2017 her year. She is officially Spotify U.K.’s most streamed female artist of 2017, and the fourth most streamed U.K. artist globally following Ed Sheeran, Coldplay and Calvin Harris. “New Rules” was also the first single by a solo female artist to claim the number one spot on the U.K. singles chart since Adele in 2015.
With 2017 coming to an end, “New Rules” has already begun to appear on several year-end lists, including The New York Times’ “The 54 Best Songs of 2017,” Rolling Stone’s “50 Best Songs of 2017,” The FADER’s “101 Best Songs of 2017,” and Esquire’s “50 Best Songs of 2017.” TIME also chose the track as their #1 song of the year, declaring it “a song that speaks to a feminist moment in the form of purest pop gold from a bold voice on the rise.”
