Thinking Backwards

I'm doing a backwards listing of upcoming releases today at Casablanca!
And I need to get a couple of synopsis (longer ones) for the fall releases next year. So as soon as I post something really brilliant on this, I'm off to work on the marketing materials.
See, after writing the book, that's not the end. Then there's the synopsis that details all the main points of the story, and then the short back cover blurb and the wish list for what might work for a cover. So it's not really finished.
Then edits come. First the overall story look--does it need an extra scene here, one cut out here, more of major revisions. Then the final edits...which aren't really the final edits, but this one goes over the book one last time before the final final edits. Which is the final look at the manuscript to make sure that small things aren't added in or left out when the last changes were made....periods, a half a quotation mark, etc. That's the editing process I love the best. The book is almost done and it looks like the real deal at that point.
So finishing a mss is only the beginning. :) Then there's more work.
I have to read the stories again, just to write the synopsis. You'd think I'd write them once I finish the stories. But not me. I'm off into another story world putting characters in danger while they fall in love.
I can't help it. Even before I've finished the last of a book I've been working on, I'm already formulating a new story idea. Why? Because I know the other is coming to an end. The characters are getting their happily ever after. But it can't be the end! I need to have another story going, pronto!
Some write their synopsis before they pen the story. I couldn't. I haven't any idea where my story will take me. But it seems the logical way to do things, doesn't it?
Maybe I'm just a backwards thinker. You think?
Are you a backwards thinker sometimes too?
Hope you have a lovely day that moves forward in a wonderful way!
