I Have Never Understood Grocery Store Cream Horns

My dad loves grocery store cream horns. He’s been eating them since I was a kid. I have never understood this.



I understand sugar and lard, even puff pastry crust, but these things just seem like a lame excuse for a dessert. I’m sure others disagree, but whenever I’m in the bakery aisle these would be almost my last choice. There are just so many other desserts there, these seem kind of pointless, particularly since the puff pastry crust is not usually sugar crusted or heavily buttered at most grocery stores, and is often really, really stale.


Mind you I ate a few when I was a kid when my dad shared, but I usually just ate the filling and tossed the crust.
