Much in the world sucks, there's no confusion about that, but what's given me sparkling rays of sunshine each day are the handwritten letters I've been receiving from readers of THE RESURRECTION OF JOAN ASHBY. That readers take the time to write a letter to me, to find my publisher's address, to find an envelope and a stamp -- in this world that rarely writes letters anymore -- and to send it, just amazes me. I am so grateful and appreciative for these intense readers, for their desire to express how my novel moved them, where it sits prominently in their local bookstore, asking me when my next novel will be coming out, asking me if I will be coming to their towns to do readings, to sign books, to give writing classes, telling me how they've been grappling with the lives they led after reading the novel. It's a joy to have written a book that spurs these kinds of passionate missives. And I write back to every single person. A handwritten note of my own, that goes into an envelope, with a stamp, and is mailed.
