Goodreads synopsis: In No Plain Rebel, Felix finds out the truth.
Or so he thinks. He’s trying to come to terms with that, as well as with the fact that the Clockmaster’s shack has been discovered by his fellow-soldiers, but he can’t exactly concentrate. The match girl’s fiery curls appear before his eyes every ten seconds, distracting him, and then he starts talking to her in his head.
Because she’s no longer there.
The Stadium is looming in the distance.
It’s ten heartbeats to midnight.

“Silence is not peace.”–No Plain Rebel by M.C. Frank

Oh, my life! That ending? BUT WHY??!!! My thoughts: “Yesss, it’s going to happen….NOOOO, it can’t end that way.”  What a ride! I thought the cliffhanger in No Ordinary Star couldn’t be topped, but it totally was.

In No Plain Rebel, the second book in the No Ordinary Star trilogy, the story of Felix and Astra continues. Let’s just get into what I loved :)

I adored the relationship development between Felix and Astra. It is so raw and real. Felix and Astra continue to experience things that they haven’t experienced before when it comes to their attraction towards each other; it is just so sweet to witness.

The action within No Plain Rebel is totally amped. Oh jeez, there were times where I was literally holding my breathe! I just couldn’t read fast enough. M.C. Frank took a relatively calm setting (in the shack) to one where I could feel that I was totally unsure of what could happen. It was awesome.

The plot continued to be immersive! I really loved how M.C. Frank built upon the plot in No Plain Rebel. The story definitely becomes more dynamic. As a reader, you get to see the horrible depth of the situation at hand. I also really enjoyed that M.C. Frank introduced a couple of different groups that were mentioned in No Ordinary Star.

The interlacing of ancient Greek elements was lovely. Plato…Socrates…the Trojan horse. Need I say more? I’m in no way close to understanding past Greek civilization, but I really appreciated that there were some Greek elements used within the story.

The lies that are uncovered! To be honest, there were a few points in the story where I felt like my mind was blown; oh my goodness these aspects were too good! The gravity of what is going on slowly gets uncovered, and I loved how that information was uncovered to the reader. There is so much going on…I cannot wait to read No Vain Loss because I have a feeling it’s going to be an epic finale.
