SIGUR RÓS REVEAL DAY-BY-DAY SCHEDULE FOR NORÐUR OG NIÐUR FESTIVAL + ANNOUNCE MORE ACTS & LIMITED DAY PASSES PEACHES, DUSTIN O'HALLORAN, ALEX SOMERS, ULRICH SCHNAUSS, AMIINA, GYÐA, DIMMA, HILMAR ÓRN HILMARSSON + STEINDOR ANDERSEN, MR SILLA, KÓRUS and MARY LATTIMORE join JARVIS COCKER, KEVIN SHIELDS, MOGWAI, STARS OF THE LID, DAN DEACON and more for Sigur Rós's ambitious takeover of Harpa Concert Hall, Reykjavík's largest arts venue, December 27-30
Sigur Rós can at last reveal who plays when at their NORÐUR OG NIÐUR festival, as well as a new round of additions to the lineup. The band are proud to announce one-woman electro powerhouse and musical game-changer PEACHES; post-classical pianist and composer DUSTIN O'HALLORAN; and long-time Sigur Rós collaborator, producer and composer (and one half of Alex & Jónsi) ALEX SOMERS. Iceland's AMIINA perform the acclaimed Fantômas , their magical live score to a century-old silent movie masterpiece. ULRICH SCHNAUSS brings dream-pop sensibilities with ecstatic electronic excess; sometime Múmmember, GYÐA, premieres new, soon-to-be-released work featuring her distinctive voice and effortless, inventive cello playing. Local heroes and masters of heavy rock DIMMA bring their epic live show. Harpist and in-demand collaborator MARY LATTIMORE will perform selections from her solo works and beyond. Acclaimed film-maker and director DEAN DEBLOIS ( Lilo & Stitch , How to Train Your Dragon ) will present a screening of Heima , his seminal film capturing Sigur Rós's epic 2006 musical journey around Iceland. They join what's already a long list of creative luminaries including: MOGWAI, JARVIS COCKER,KEVIN SHIELDS, STARS OF THE LID, DAN DEACON, JULIANNA BARWICK, JÓHANN JÓHANNSSON, BLANCK MASS, ALEXIS TAYLOR (HOT CHIP), ICELAND DANCE COMPANY,JFDR, and MAMMÚT. A full programme of visual arts, spoken word, cinema, and one-off happenings are still to be announced. "Organising your own festival is brilliant," say Sigur Rós.
