Please welcome Ought to the Merge family

For Immediate Release: Ought have signed with us, and we couldn’t be happier! After two critically acclaimed albums, 2014’s More Than Any Other Day and 2015’s Sun Coming Down, the Montreal quartet of Tim Darcy, Tim Keen, Matt May, and Ben Stidworthy are slated to release their third album early next year. And let us tell you, it’s a bona fide stunner.
According to the band, here’s how it went down:Band made album and band poked around for label and Merge heard album and offered to front certain standard costs for manufacturing and distribution of said album but also to enter us into their bosom of artist-centered excellence and my what a roster and my what a fine name to have on our new album so band said yes and felt joy, excitement and on that note would love a Merge sticker or four if y’all can hook that up?
Beginning later this week, you can catch Ought playing shows in the southwest around the Austin City Limits Music Festival, and on the east coast with Waxahatchee this November.
