Listen to "Ash" Here

"Ibeyi makes music that is as exhilarating as it is meaningful, in a rhythmically rich world wholly it's own” - NPR
"If there was ever a visual for the restorative powers of heritage, it’s this.”– Remezcla
"(Ibeyi) deliver a distinctive blend of pop, R&B, and electronica on their mesmerizing second album.” -Entertainment Weekly
"Ibeyi’s ability to conjure intimacy and vulnerability endures” - Pitchfork
Today Ibeyi will release Ash, the follow-up to their globally acclaimed, self-titled debut album (2015) which earned the twins fans and collaborators in some of the most iconic and crucial artists of today including Beyoncé and Alvin Ailey. Ash, a more visceral and potent political statement, is firmly rooted in Afro-Cuban culture and history and finds itself entirely concerned with Ibeyi’s present: Who Lisa-Kaindé and Naomi are, what’s important to them, and how they live today, especially given that the spheres, both personally and politically, are entirely different from when Ibeyi was recorded. The twelve track album includes appearances from Michelle Obama, Kamasi Washington, Mala Rodriguez, Chilly Gonzales, and  Meshell Ndegeocello. The album art, included below, was created by French street artist JR.
To celebrate the release of Ash, Ibeyi will set out on a global tour this October.  Kicking off on September 30 in France, the tour will extend across continents ending on November 19 in North America. Ibeyi’s live performance is mesmerizing and not to be missed and as Los Angeles’ KCRW explained, “there is a remarkable power to what they do.”
