Transmitted by way of a deceptively sophisticated string guitar and featuring a cast of influential Chicago collaborators on synthesizer, strings, bass, mandolin and drums, "Black Fly" brings Haley's four octave vocal range to the forefront, displayed with piercing emotion and an incisive unification of loss and independence.
