Words, how strong are they?
In reading and or writing, it's all about the words. How do they flow ? Are the words enough to create that magical feeling while reading your chosen genre.
Is it that the words can be that powerful to draw you all the way in and begin to create an imaginary place, is it the same place the author has attempted to conjure up or is it quite specific to you the reader ?
Within each of our own minds we can create the images of imagination and drift off into a novel, feeling we are actually there,
"sitting on the porch overlooking the ranch hands as they saddle the horses. What a long dry season this year, watering holes will be hard to come by in the cattle drive this summer. The dust rising as the herds continue to shuffle their feet in tandem"
I am already imaging the scene, I even began to feel sorry for the fella sweating and wiping his brow.
So words can be powerful, so much so that we, humans that is, use words every single day in our lives. From early in life a toddler is watched closely for their first word. How amazing, does the toddler know the power of what they have been watching and listening to so intently, do they know? That these words are the key to success, the strongest weapon of mankind. Only simple words, so common as ditch water, WORDS.
My question. Why do we use them oh so wrongly, nah wrongly is a poor choice of word. (Wow even possible to make a poor choice in words)
The use of these words and how we live our lives is crucial to a content place or "happy place" in our journey through life. What can this mean, what is the use of my words right now?
Good question. To explain further we can use an example or two. We could say "I don't suppose you were able to pick up my concert tickets while you were in the city today" This is my example.
Right there in the beginning we could have said, "I suppose you did not" but some how we manage to make It a negative from the very beginning.
We could say "I don't like ice cream" or perhaps we could alter it a little and use different words when offered the delicious desert treat. "I prefer to have pie instead" , "I like to just take cake" another alternative. Why? To cut out the negative in an effort to maintain and live in the content place in life, the happy place where words are not always negative immediately. Just by choosing a different way to say the simple things can allow so.much freedom in our own feelings and life that a positive twist occurs oh so naturally.
So many people say "oh sorry" if you slightly bump into someone or cross right in front of them in a line for something. Or even if they misunderstood what you had just said, "sorry" is a way of saying. Could you repeat that? Or "excuse me for crossing your path like that" no need to be sorry, the person is not actually sorry for anything, it is just a habit we have formed within our society here amongst the human race.
It sounds all ludicrous to be upbeat and positive all of the time, sure I agree. But and as always the bigger than life BUT, it is worth allowing ourselves to develop into a more positive attitude, more vibrant or even flamboyant type character that we are. Why not, we can smile more often and then the world smiles right back at us, we could even help another to alter their own day just by our simple choice in words. Being nice can just be infectious, using nicer words or steering away from immediately negative can help ease many tensions and feelings.
No how magnificent is that? Our choice in words can do all that. How we use our language to speak the simplicities, just keep it simple in language yet with a tone of positivity followed with a well wish or two. What a wonderful world we could create for our children. An all too Mary poppins type world perhaps. Albeit a better one ?
Yes this is how powerful our words are and they do not have to even be the harsh words. Nor followed or presented with tone of voice as that's a whole other animal completely. Let's just stick with words for now.
"Oh I hate when someone drives like that" "I hate that song it reminds me of ...." Why let me ask you even use the word hate for such basic matters, hate or to hate is quite strong in its own right. Perhaps tone down the hatred words and not introduce them into a day that can be filled with happier words. Little words that anyone who may be listening may just learn from our example that to be negative or hateful may just be such an energy absorbing way to live.
Not an easy thing to do granted, I will give you that, however I will wake every morning and choose my words as I speak, my motivation may not last throughout a full 16 or 18 hour day. I will definitely attempt to be positive and change the habits I have learned through life and society of being so quick to turn any sentence negative.
How will I become a more content person?
How will I become positive ?
How will I change my world ?
By simple practice and thoughtful choices in words. The OH SO POWERFUL words.
They are quite powerful and give us a whole range of choices, so I will choose those words that bring me most contentment in my day.
Just a thought, feel free to comment. Would love to hear from you as to your immediate response you can write it below.
