HAVE PEN, WILL TRAVEL

It’s been a pretty crazy month, requiring some serious traveling, ultimately taking me away from my writing. Hadn’t planned to end up in Coos Bay, Oregon, but, well, that’s where I found myself for almost a week. It turned out it was just before tourist season and, while sunny in the afternoons, it was foggy, rainy and bitter cold at night and in the early mornings. What I remember most is the trees. Big, full, magnificent evergreens as far as the eye could see. I felt humbled. Some of the taller trees were surely around before cell phones, computers, rockets, airplanes, cars, television, rock’n’roll, maybe even the printing press…an unimaginably “long time ago” by today’s reckoning.
