The Hinterlands

Whew, what a vacation that was. I even got a chance to talk to my wife. We discussed urbanization.

Our terrible vision of a future: extreme urbanization where cities are pressure-cookers of both problems and their solutions. The problem-solution cycle is so fast that city-dwellers aren’t aware of it, but when those diseases, computer viruses, pollution, climate change, and angry mobs spill out into the surrounding hinterlands, they can do a lot of damage before someone gets around to dealing with them. So…that’s bad.
