New Shiny Object

As writers we can be working on an idea but get distracted by a shiny object.

But back to my point. My latest shiny object is an idea I had a couple of days ago at work. I wasn't thinking of writing so much but the October Dayes series by Seamen McGuire came to mind for a moment. Somehow it deflected to the Summerlands in that series. Summerlands is where all of the fae live when not in our lands. Its a dimension right next to ours and while not easy not all that hard to get to. Other writers have one in their worlds too. They can be called different things but all are basically the same. In most of the series and single books the action takes place in our lands with some side trips into the Summerlands .

In the process of thinking of the Summerlands I got to wondering about an adventure in them. A story set in my own Summerlands. Hmm, I would use mostly ideas from the Daya series but also from the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. With maybe a pinch from The Trailer Park Fae by Lilith Saintcrow and another pinch from the Conner Gray series by Mark del Franco.

All of those and more have two rulers over the Fae lands, whatever they are called. In two of these it is a woman and man in the other two it is two women. Sometimes known as the Summer queen or king and Winter Queen or king.

So I would have to decide which way to go with that but most of my action would be in that land instead of in the human lands. They will probably be humans who live there but the main action will be with the Fae.
