Coping with Grief from the Passing of A Friend

[image error]I got a phone call that an old friend had unexpectedly passed away. My first response was that he was younger than me.

Today I will be at his memorial service and remember all the beautiful things about his life. He gave to so many. He was an artist who captured the beauty in life so others could stop and be reminded of how wonderful life can be.

What affected me most was that during a really terrible time in my life, when my girls were 7 and 9 and I was trying to hold the family together, when my husband lay in Yale New Haven Hospital waiting and hoping for a heart transplant, this bright soul would go to visit him.

Today my husband and I will be with his friends and family celebrating his life. I will cry. Because God’s gain is our loss. We were blessed to know him.
