Syrian forces beat up political cartoonist Ali Ferzat.

Ferzat, who had become increasingly critical of Bashar al-Assad's regime was found bleeding at side of Damascus road. The world-renowned cartoonist has a history of eliciting the wrath of authorities. Masked gunmen dragged Syria's best-known political cartoonist from his car before dawn, broke both his hands and left him bleeding along the side of a road days after he compared Syria's president to Moammar Gaddafi.
