Permission Granted: You Don’t Have to Finish That Terrible Book You’re Reading

Do you feel compelled to finish a book, even if you’re not enjoying it? I used to, but no longer. I got angry with books I didn’t like because I felt that once I started reading, I was committed to reading until the bitter end. Talk about pressure–pressure on myself, and pressure on the poor book. Leona Thank you. I have done just that because at my age, life is getting shorter and I have lots of good books to read and re-read. My mother was in her late 80s when we lost her and still re-reading her favorites.

Laura Good for you, Leona. There are SO many wonderful books out there--I do wish we could read them all. That's so cool about your mother continuing to read for so long. My parents are both avid readers, and they're in their mid-70s. I can't send them books fast enough!
