Camera rolling, slate, action…End of the Road @KMNbooks #8sunday #snippetsunday
About this snippet: Chapter One (Don't Fear) The Reaper Snippet 11. Last week snippet is here.
Cecilia has tucked her mother into bed and has cleared all the mess her mother left behind on the coffee table.

She left the full bag beside the couch and strode over to the projector intent on rewinding the reel so she could put it away. Her father had a real passion for film, despite the fact it wasn't all that popular in the 90s when video tape recorders were all the rage. Of course, her father owned a camcorder as well and those videotapes were stored in the library upstairs. His bandmates told her a few stories about her father's dream to be a film director. He used to drive them batty as he followed them around and recorded their every move.
She spotted an empty tin on the edge of the desk and there were other tins stacked on the desk too. It appeared her mother had worked through quite a few reels before ending up with the one loaded on the projector. She reached for reel but as her fingers touched it, the projector turned on with a blast of air that sounded similar to hairdryer and the tick-tick-tick of the film reel added to the machine's antiquated music. Her brows drew together as she stared at the faulty machine in surprise. She reached for the switch to turn it off, but a child's giggle drew her attention and she glanced at the wall where the past had come alive in muted colors and grainy lines.
