The Shape of the Novel

In a few days, I'll be heading to the monster-sized Associated Writing Programs Convention in DC, where I'll be speaking on a panel about The Shape of The Novel. Paul Wilner Great to read your thoughts; you certainly cover the universe of possible "shapes'' here. Personally, I prefer the more realistic model of your own work, and Mr. Kiefer's, but you've piqued my curiosity about the other genres/styles, even if I'm less likely to devote the necessary time/energy to explore them...

For myself, I find just exposure to the writers playing with form enlivens my thought processes, even if I write a more straightforward narrative myself. .
