The FIRST Time Traveler

One man, consumed by time…

“You ready?”

NASA Astronaut Barnett adjusted the vacuum seal on his wrist. “Just about,” he said to mission control’s chief supervisor.

“Give us the all clear and we’ll proceed with making history.”

Barnett looked at the device ahead of him. Workers wearing bio hazard suits ran amusing patterns getting his departure ready.

I hope this works, Barnett thought. “All ready. We are a go,” he said.

“We are a go,” the chief supervisor confirmed.

Barnett walked toward the time travel machine. Personnel wearing white bio-hazard suits made two lines on each side of the boarding bridge.

“Mission Control is here for you. Just do like the practice runs. Have a safe journey,” the chiefs voice came through the communication mic in Barnett’s ear.

Looks like a giant donut made of marbles and wires. Barnett walked toward the bizarre machine.

He climbed the stairs and entered the chamber.

Barnett breathed deep and tried to control his nerves as he heard the count down begin.

Steve Barnett, the first man to travel through time. I can do this.

The machine hummed and a vibration built.

SHIT! Barnett’s body vibrated in a frequency that made him panic.

FUCK, FUCK, FUCK!

The cells in Barnett’s body screamed in his mind as they were stretched apart.

OH FUCK!

“NASA, FUuuuccck…”

“Barnett? Barnett?” the chief shouted over the intercom. The time travel chamber flashed like a roman candle and disappeared.

Barnett screamed as time became a stack of pancakes. His eyes rolled back and tears ran down his cheeks.

Space got spread like butter on the steaming, soft cake surface of time.

Past, present, and future, were a crocheted ball, knotted tightly by a inept senile old woman.

Barnett’s body twisted and contracted. His knees bent backward and his feet entered his mouth.

“AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!”

His body was folded like an origami swan.
