There was no movement.
Headlights illuminated nothing. Vickie’s eyes tried to look at what couldn’t be seen.
How? She asked herself.
But this was where the road had led.
She left the headlights on even though they did no good.
The driver’s side door creaked. Vickie tested the firmness of the ground with her high heel.
Solid.
She got out of the car.
Direction mutated and realigned.
What the Hell?
Strange noises of bent steel resonated with quick intervals of silence.
Vickie stepped away from her car.
It was now a twisted piece of compacted metal. One headlight blinked erratically. Its light dimmed.
OH NO! OH NO! Her soul cried out. I’ll be left in complete darkness.
The headlight dimmed to a single pin point. Vickie watched as that small speck of life vanished.
Damn, she steadied herself. Darkness was everywhere.
Vickie walked with her hands stretched out in front of her. She moved in a small cautious circle.
Shit, what do I do now?
Huh?
Her hands found something solid and warm. She slid her hands around and then…
Oh my GOD!
She pulled her hands away.
“Who are you?” she asked the darkness.
“I am the END,” it replied.
