Wasn’t Count Duckula A Ripoff Of Bunnicula?

Wasn’t Count Duckula just a ripoff of Bunnicula? I mean, the whole vegetarian vampire thing? The first Bunnicula book came out in 1979, and Count Duckula didn’t get going until 1988. Bunnicula was definitely first.

Sure, Count Duckula was the main protagonist and actually was a vegetarian vampire, as opposed to the more allegation-based, secondary character of Bunnicula, but still. Vegetarian vampire. The concept was there.

Someone has some explaining to do, I think.
