Out on a Limb

**The book itself is intended for readers 18+!**

Innocent part of the book:

“Yes,” I asked raising an eyebrow.

“About yesterday,” I held up a hand.

“I don’t do apologies. If you didn’t mean it, you wouldn’t have said it. You assumed I was like half of the people in this world and went out on a limb on that assumption. Then fell flat on your ass, because you were far from right.” He stared at me in silence for several seconds, “So honestly, you can take your apology and shove it up your shallow ass,” I threw in a grin for an added effect. He stared at me for a long time, not saying a word. Finally, he threw back his head and a heavenly sound escaped him. He was actually laughing. Everyone passing us was staring at us, “Are you crazy or something?”

“In a way,” he said trying to not laugh. I raised an eyebrow.

“Look,” a serious face came over him, “I’m Timmons. Well, Jeff. Jeff Timmons,” he extended his right hand.

“Kelly. Aughbreigh Kelly,” I said extending my hand to meet his. We shook hands briefly, removed our hands from one another’s grasp. His grasp was strong but gentle. I liked the way he shook hands. Most guys shook my hand like a beast or like a wimp. His was right in the middle. Seems silly, but a handshake can tell a lot about a person.

“A-u-b-r-e-y,” he asked spelling the traditional way. I laughed and shook my head.

“Not even close,” he was the one raising an eyebrow this time.

“How do you spell it?”

“Why does it matter? It’s just a name,” I took a sip of my drink.

“Guess it doesn’t,” he said shrugging his shoulders.

“A-u-g-h-b-r-e-i-g-h,” I said and a crisp grin surfaced his face. He was quite used to getting things his way. With his looks, I could understand why. He was eye candy with a capital “C”, “Used to getting your way?”

“That obvious,” he asked. He was such a rake.

“Well, I’m not most women, so you can pull your cards out of your sleeve.”

“What makes you think I have cards up my sleeve,” he said laughing. I knew this type of man; the type of man, who got everything from women just by flashing a smile. These women would throw themselves upon his feet. It was rather sickening how some women could be, “Deep in thought?”

“Always,” I muttered and looked at my watch, “I have to be going, but the chat was engaging.”

“Enjoy the muffin.”

“Hoping a shallow bitch will choke on it,” his mouth began to open but closed, replaced with a grin.

“I’m going to walk away now,” his voice was huskier than usual.  He seemed aroused. The thought of turning on a man like that made me hope I was right.

“Scared,” I asked before I had time to digest what was coming out of my mouth. His eyes widened and his grin deepened.

“Never scared,” he stepped closer to me, “Don’t you have somewhere to be,” I nodded my head, “You should probably go now before I make you forget you have anywhere to be.”

“How’s that,” I asked and the words better escaped before his mouth was on mine. A soft kiss, but a welcoming kiss. My mouth against my protest opened to his. His tongue explored my mouth, as mine explored his. The kiss was short but explosive. We pulled away and I looked up to see him grinning.

“Have a wonderful day, Aughbreigh,” with that he turned and walked back into Maples, leaving me with my mouth gaping open.
