Translation on Tap in NYC, Dec. 1 – 15, 2016

It’s starting to look a lot like winter; what better time to curl up with a great translated book, and when you get stir-crazy, to go to a translation event! Here’s what’s coming your way:

Thursday, Dec. 1:

Jägerstetter: The staged reading of this play by Felix Mitterer (based on the life of a real-life figure – Terrence Malick is at work on a biopic) will be followed by a conversation with the play’s translators, Gregor Thuswaldner and Robert Dassanowsky, director Guy Ben-Aharon, and screenwriter/producer Elisabeth Bentley, moderated by Carol Gilligan. Friday, Dec. 2:

Konundrum: translator Peter Wortsman reads and speaks about his new translations of Kafka, Konundrum: Selected Prose of Franz Kafka, with translator Tess Lewis. More information here. Deutsches Haus, 42 Washington Mews, 6:30 p.m.
