The New European Catchword
Words are magic, are they not?
There is a new catchword making the rounds of various European media circles with increasing redundancy - "populism."
Most generally the usage is directed towards either "right wing" populism or "left wing" populism.
This is a vast improvement over the previous "extreme right" or "extreme left" that was routinely splashed across nervous print and electronic headlines.
"Populism" acknowledges that there is room for improvement with the status quo. but it inadvertently admits that the political class representing the status quo is not necessarily doing a satisfactory job representing the will of the electorate.
One has to wonder if the media spank wankers have carefully thought this one through. Isolating the political class by bandying around "populism" could cause a conflict of interest with the spank wankers' politically correct narrative.
It could actually force some of the wankers to break ranks and resort to the long lost art of objective journalism.

Populism does imply really suspious sentiments though. Everything alright, David? It must be a roaring maddening place to be in the U.S at the moment. We are holding our breath here in Europe!

Quite frankly, Hanneke, it is more sad than maddening, but I suppose it should not come as a big surprise that a country of over three hundred million inhabitants that no longer produces any meaningful literature, music, theatre, poetry or cinema should put forward a choice between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.A ditch pig culture begets a shit house body politic.
Yes, your options are bewilderingly meagre in view of the number of inhabitants. There is something very wrong.
Historians never give George Washington enough credit for being an intellectual. At the Constitutional Congress, he argued against political parties. Can you imagine such a utopian democracy without political parties? I think I might be a Utopian Democrat. LOL!
