Dylan
I am a fan of Dylan's early music. It brings back some memories of a much more curious and engaged American generation. It resonates as a quaint time capsule rather than anything I would ever consider as being of lasting value worthy of the Nobel Prize for literature.
Then again, Barack Hussein Obama was nominated for the Peace Prize after being in office for less than one month for no other reason than...
We can blame that one on the politically correct Norwegians who award the Peace Prize.
If this is a vain attempt to make the lit prize fashionable and relevant, I think the Swedish Academy has succeeded in hitting itself in the face with a cream pie.
Do not be surprised if this opens the door for considering television reality series for upcoming prizes. Why not video games? No need to burn books when you can electrify them with pekoral.

When considering Mr. Dylan's award, I cannot help but think of Willa Cather and Jorge Luis Borges who were never recognized.
If that makes me a Luddite, at least I am a reasonably well-read Luddite who recognizes pekoral and holds his nose over phony Peace prizes.

Well said, Mr. Cotter.It is rather sad that the members of the Swedish Academy have fallen victim to the politically correct fashion of chasing after a popular culture in order to bask in the echo of its worthless applause.
I guess it all depends on what you define as literature.From the Wikipedia article on Literature:

The Swedish Academy surprisingly came back to its senses after spending a year in the wastelands with Bob Dylan's drivel (Leonard Cohen would have been okay if you are going with a songwriter-poet) and awarded the Lit Prize to a worthy contender, Kazuo Ishiguro.
