The World of True Fire
When I think about the World of True Fire, I realise there is so much more story left to write. In the first trilogy, the Northern Lands were the focus of events but, like Earth, there is a lot going on elsewhere on the planet.
I haven't yet explored Cheshwon or Cringle's search for his mother which would form part of the next book but something odd happened last year. I set out to write a completely new fantasy story only it wasn't completely new, it was still set in the World of True Fire but in a different land. I only realised that fact when it intersected with the current tale during a particularly rewarding dream which linked the stories.
Unlike my other books, which sprawl across a variety of genres, True Fire is pure fantasy. The Fold is the nearest to it but didn't give me the same sense of completeness or satisfaction that True Fire does. I find the world is often in my thoughts, as are the day to day activities of its inhabitants. There is war in a southern realm where books on magic are being collected up and burnt, the inhabitants need help.
The Draakon Reavers are rebuilding their fleet and bearing grudges while warring with their neighbors for resources. Further afield, sentient drakons are making themselves known. Much is afoot.
