The Writer's Brain Never Shuts Off!
I have often seen it said that authors are always working. I must admit that is probably true. An author's mind is always churning and trying to come up with ideas. We are working when we are reading to become better at our craft. We are working when we are out living our lives, gaining new experiences that sometimes filter into our characters' lives later on. I know that personally when I have down time and am doing nothing, I am actually thinking about my works in progress, and I always have several works going at once so this can really keep me busy. Take yesterday, I was getting an MRI and there is not much to do in those cramp and loud tubes but think of anything but being in a cramp and loud tube. So how did I pass my time? Thinking about writing of course! Shockingly enough I came up with some plot points for almost all of my current works in progress, and some damn good ideas if I do say so myself! Probably the last time I can remember a day where I didn't think about writing was my wedding day... no that's not true, some other people caused drama at our wedding and I thought I should add that to a story some day. lol Maybe the day after my wedding I completely shut down my writer brain. Maybe... Good thing my husband is so damn understanding.
