Shhhh! It's the library.
I enjoy visiting the library and there's one that I love which is a thirty minute drive from my place. It has an industrial feel to it, exposed air ducts and brick. It's eight foot windows makes it well lit. I sit on the second level and feel like a bird perched on a tree top as I look out over the small town's busy street. Next to this street is a grassy area, which is next to a grave yard. I'm only two stories up but I feel on top of the world. Peace and quiet.
You can find what ever you need at the library. You can learn how to roll sushi, start a business or knit a blanket. One can go away to far places and go back in time. Who says the library is dull? They must not be a reader.
Flashback: I'm sitting at my favorite library, in my favorite spot, just chillin'. When all of a sudden my serenity is disturbed by this guy. He's sitting about fifteen feet away and his back's to me. On his head are headphones, big headphones, not little ear buds. So, I'm still trying to chill but have a hard time because I hear the bang of cymbals, guitar riffs and vocals. That's when I wonder, "what happened to the rules? Remember when the library was considered a quiet zone? When if your voice was too loud the entire place would shush you? Is it because he is not talking that he thinks he can disturb my peacefulness? Electronic devices make people think they can do "things" because it's not them personally doing it, it's the device."
Well my peace and quiet returned once the security guard came over and asked him to lower his music. At that point I could only hear riffs and bangs. So now I wonder, am I getting old?
