Excerpt from Chapter 2.

‘Now clearly at some point we have to get to the details about how my boyfriend and I met. It is hilarious, really. Well, more so afterwards because he almost ran me over with his car. So here it goes…

I am crossing the road with my latte in one hand, my gym bag in the other, and my huge noise cancelling headphones. I’m normally very good when crossing the road and this time there were no cars, I swear, when suddenly from a corner this Aston Martin is advancing towards me and I just stare at it in the middle of the street. I suppose it’s one of those situations when panic takes control of your brain and logic is replaced by illogical fear, which is illogical itself since it would definitely make more sense to move in any direction to prevent, let’s say, being hit by that car in front of you. Funny thing is, I did notice that it was a gorgeous Aston Martin. After all that has always been my favourite car. Sleek, classy, simply beautiful…

So that beautiful car, as I was saying, is like an impending fireball, flying towards me, when it suddenly stops. I only realise that a few moments after because of that shock I am clearly experiencing. Point is, I realise I am standing there intact with my latte still in my hand. Strange I haven’t dropped it or at least spilled it. Forget about the car that almost ran me over, that’s a miracle! Some chanting, or more like screaming, interrupts my thoughts. That’s when I see him…’
