August 18 -- Thursday: BIG HOORAH: Insidious came in at #2 on the USA Today bestseller list (behind Harry Potter) On the New York Times bestseller list: #1 Combined hardcover/ebooks, #1 ebooks and #2 on hardcover list. Thank all of you for buying it and getting other people to buy it and their pets and family -- goodness, you are all worthy of chips and guacamole.
Let me tell you a secret: when a book does well its first week out, as Insidious has done, then you celebrate and hoot and holler for 24 hours and then you begin to worry about week #2 -- will it fall off the bestseller lists? Has everyone who wanted to read Insidious already bought it and now it's all over and there's no one else out there to buy it? Will I soon be in the fetal position? Behind the sofa? You see the madness?
All of you, this is within the first 24 hours, so celebrate with me today and go out for lunch and order something EVIL and raise a glass toward Sausalito.

I'm Baaaack!

Update on BOMBSHELL, the 17th FBI Thriller: I'm nearly finished with the edit. The cover is very cool, explodes with eye-popping color. BOMBSHELL is set in Maestro, Va., (the setting of the 10th FBI thriller, POINT BLANK) and in Washington.
JEWEL OF THE LION (first thriller in A Brit in the FBI series partnered with J.T. Ellison). JEWEL moves fast and you don't know what's going to happen on the next page, and you're biting your toenails or a zombie's toenails. J.T. is an excellent plotter and that means when we brainstorm no plot gets left behind.
Alas, no kids want candy enough to crawl up our oxygen-deprived steep driveway, and the sad thing is, I still have a big bowl of candy, every year, but no one comes, not even the zombies with brain bags.
Take care, Catherine
