Angelfall by Susan Ee

Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, Book 1) by Susan Ee was a surprise, not only because it's tagged as YA, making me believe it was going to be another Twilight

The characters have depth, likability (I know that's not a word but I'ma use it anyway), and are given their moment to shine...all except the little sister who we only catch a glimpse of at the beginning and end so that she comes off as more of a caricature than a full-bodied character.
I mention the little sis only because the lead character's quest is to rescue her, which makes her an important emotional element that was missed. Yet despite this disappointment, the author skillfully takes us on a journey with two characters who are easy to bond with and even easier to want to see succeed.
The end has a lot of wonderful fireworks and big BANGS that are satisfying, and there are enough strings left tangled to make me happy to recommend this book.
Love, light, and laughter!
