Los Angeles - Together with the David Lynch Foundation, Hat & Beard Press is proud to release Beyond the Beyond: Music from the Films of David Lynch, an exploration of Lynch's use of music and sound in his films, as well as a document of the performances held at the benefit concert that honored the 10-year anniversary of the David Lynch Foundation. The concert benefitted DLF, which brings Transcendental Meditation to at-risk adults and children suffering from PTSD all over the world. The concert, titled "The Music of David Lynch," was held on April 1, 2015 and featured performances and interpretations of Lynch's music from Angelo Badalamenti, Chrysta Bell, Rebekah del Rio, Donovan, Duran Duran, Jim James, Karen O, Kinney Landrum, Moby, Rob Mathes, Sky Ferreira, Tennis, Twin Peaks, Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd of the Flaming Lips, and Zola Jesus. Beyond the Beyond features an interview with David Lynch and more than a dozen popular contemporary musicians who performed that night, including the aforementioned performers; original photographs by David Black, as well as archival images from Lynch's own collection. "'BEYOND THE BEYOND' SO PERFECTLY DESCRIBES MY MUSIC, AND OUR LONGTIME, WARM AND PERSONAL WORKING RELATIONSHIP." - Angelo Badalamenti With an introduction by Kristine McKenna, who is currently co-writing David Lynch's authorized biography, and essays from contemporary music and culture writers, Beyond the Beyond is a thoughtful consideration of Lynch's work in sound and music over the span of his decades-long career. Hat & Beard Press founders J.C. Gabel and Jessica Hundley edited the book, and conducted the interviews with the musicians and artists featured in the book.
