SARA WATKINS ANTICIPATED SOLO ALBUM, YOUNG IN ALL THE WRONG WAYS, PREMIERING IN FULL VIA NPR FIRST LISTEN BROOKLYN SHOW TOMORROW NIGHT FOLLOWED BYHOLLYWOOD BOWL, EXTENSIVE TOURING NOMINATED FOR INSTRUMENTALIST OF THE YEAR BY AMERICANA MUSIC ASSOCIATION

LOS ANGELES, CA, June 27, 2016 - Ahead of its release this Friday, July 1 onNew West Records, Sara Watkins much anticipated new solo album, Young in All The Wrong Ways , is premiering in full all week long at NPR First Listen . "By now, Watkins has been in the spotlight for half her life. Never before has she made her voice heard quite this clearly," they exclaimed. "The title track opens the album and sets the tone. Watkins momentarily loses herself in lulling wistfulness, only to lurch into a rebuke of naïveté, bearing down on her scorn for once-automatic acquiescence over spiky eruptions of electric guitar and a tumultuous drum groove. 'I'm going out to see about my own frontier,' she insists twice in a row, sounding determinedly detached. Watkins isn't acting out belated rebellion so much as disrupting comfortable certainty and fleshing out an adult, feminine vantage point - one that chooses which attachments to cultivate." Watkins, who is currently nominated for Instrumentalist of the Year by theAmericana Music Association for their upcoming awards show, recently shared the beautifully shot video for the powerful title track via Wall Street Journal Speakeasy, the cinematic clip directed by Emilie Sabath, was shot in the desert and mountains of Southern California and mirrors the intense, personal nature of the lyrics. As the WSJ expressed, the "musician surrounded herself with yucca plants, tall mountains, and a quaint cabin outside of Palmdale, Calif. But it's her intense gaze into the camera that takes center stage." Watch the video below:

Young In All The Wrong Ways sees the acclaimed songwriter and multi-instrumentalist boldly stepping back in to the role of frontwoman following the collaborative groups of Watkins Family Hour and the Platinum-selling, Grammy Award-winning Nickel Creek, which she first formed with her brother Sean Watkins and Chris Thile when she was just eight years old. Easily her most cohesive and fully realized album of her solo career, it is also her most introspective, personal and revealing; she wrote or co-wrote each of the 10 songs - a first for her. Writing and recording these ten intensely soul-baring songs was a means for her to process and mark the last couple years, which have been transformative. These songs contain some of the heaviest moments of her career, with eruptions of thrumming B3 organ and jagged electric guitar. But it's also quiet, vulnerable, tenderhearted. The album was produced in Los Angeles by Gabe Witcher who put together a stellar band that included two of his fellow Punch Brothers, guitarist Chris Eldridge and bass player Paul Kowert, and musicians Jon Brion and Jay Bellerose. Sarah Jarosz and Aoife O'Donovan, Watkins' bandmates in I'm With Her, provide harmonies on the title track while Jim James of My Morning Jacket guests on "One Last Time."
