"This is a very interesting book for many reasons. First, it is compiled in an orderly and logical way that makes it easy reading even for one not used to perusing scholarly works, such as myself. Secondly, it contains many quotes to increase the understanding of what was going on in the minds of the Founders of the Constitution. Third, it isn't argumentative, simply states the facts and allows the reader to see the outcome. As he says, there has always been an argument between those who believe the Constitution was written in order to establish a Christian country, and those who believe that the very fact that the United States is not a country with an established religion proves the others to be wrong. As the author concludes, many of the Founders were very religious men, but not all of them were, and that fact may have affected their personal feelings about how the Constitution should be written, but it didn't affect the document itself. Both sides recognized something they called Natural Law, which derived from the creation they could observe and experience around them, and that Natural Law had more effect on the writing of the Constitution than their actual religion."
