The Doldrums

I am in them.

Can't seem to make any real headway in this biz.  I think I fall into some substance category between wheat and chaff.  Dust?  Hell, beats me.  I'm feeling kind of swallowed up in this genre, and confused about readers' standards.  It's getting pretty depressing.  I don't know how to write what lots and lots of people will like.  And talk about.  And remember.  Just don't know how.

Don't.  Know.  How.  And maybe can't.

Dee Wy Hey KZ. Anyone who was born in 1910 in Antartica has a hell of an imagination! I hope you keep using it.

I'm in the middle of my first book by you, filled with that amazing imagination - Mongrel. The prose is noteworthy and I've been highlighting passages I want to remember. Love the world and the story.

Doldrums come to all of us, but they tend to not last. Perhaps conceiving a new project would lift you out of them. More m/m steampunk please!

Dee

Dee, I've indeed been considering a sequel to Mongrel. (Thank you for reading it!) Right now, though, I'm kind of spinning my wheels through a coming-of-age WIP. Must pull myself out of this slump if I can.

If you don't keep doing what you do so well... hmph. I don't even want to think about that."

Hey, Lisa. <3

Dee Wy Yea! A lot of people will be happy to know there might be a sequel to Mongrel in the future. Fanule is such a great character. Who wouldn't want more of his story?

Fanule sounds bipolar, like me. So we understand the doldrums and being manic. When I'm down I self medicate with Ben & Jerry's ice cream and a good book. Works every time! :)

K.Z. Snow Yep, Fanule is what used to be called "manic-depressive." And I'm sure Ben & Jerry's tastes a whole lot better than the herbal concoction he has to drink. ;-)

K.Z. Snow Hi there, L.C.! Thanks so much for the encouragement. I guess we all have our moments of insecurity and have to fumble around to find coping mechanisms. What I'm trying to do now is get lost again in my WIP. And stay off the Internet. ;-)

Michelle B Wait one minute, please, I absolutely adored Precious Boy--so imaginative and lovely, it unfolded in a completely compelling way. I was just looking for some additional books by you to purchase via Goodreads rec when I saw your comment. Don't give up--just hang in there. And work the social media hard, that seems to be critical these days. Hugs!
