Wow, Tam, that doesn't sound like something you'd be into. Not sure why -- maybe because you seem so cosmopolitan. :)We've always had hairy and downy woodpeckers around here, but that pileated is the first I've seen. I'm glad he's hanging around. The hawks and sandhill cranes are a treat, too, as is the occasional eagle. (Gah, listen to me go on about birds! See? You're not alone. *g*)




My ex and I used to go birdwatching/hiking a lot. It was fun to see how many birds we could find. Pileated woodpeckers are not that common here, we did see one once in the forest though. It was a highlight. (Okay, my life is not that exciting either. LOL)
