Images for Inspiration

My muse is very spoilt. Lately, going from editing mode, to blog writing mode, to story land, is something of a struggle. Sometimes I feel like my brain is a small room where there are too many things going on at once. There's a stereo blasting Marilyn Manson, Criminal Minds is on TV, and in the middle of it all twenty people are playing twister.

So how do I flip the switch?

Well, usually I open up my latest WIP and glare at it until the words come. Those words usually get deleted because they're so forced. Then I step away from my laptop and try to find a distraction so my brain will relax. If I'm lucky, inspiration will come.

But what about the days when I don't feel like waiting around for my muse to get off his ass?

On days like that–like today–I tempt him. Music works more often than not to set the mood, but when my minds eyes can't 'see' anything worth writing about, eye candy usually does the trick.

So here's today's treats:

Totally random, I know, but inspiration doesn't have to make sense. There are sexier pictures out there, but I can't write without a certain amount of emotional investment and a sense of newness. These images either triggered the vision of a scene, a character's feelings, or physical sensations that could be used in the story.

Add some music, the right kind of clothes if I really need to get in the zone, and I'm set.

Wish me luck!
