NEW RELEASE and a slightly unhinged Excerpt from Violent Angel (Pretty Broken Things Book One)

You may have noticed a bit of a trend with me not posting about my new releases ON release day lol In my defense, there's always so much going on, my toe-doe list is a mile long.

Also, it was Halloween and Samhain!

To all who celebrate, I hope you had a great one!

Now, for this latest release, Violent Angel (Pretty Broken Things Book One), I'm going to start with something I haven't needed to say in a while.

PLEASE. DO. NOT. IGNORE. THE. WARNINGS.

People have their own definitions of dark, and some of my books that I didn't think needed much of a warning were still a bit edgy by many standards.

Pretty Broken Things isn't just 'edgy'.

There are a lot of really f*cked up scenes.

This book has assassins who are one step from earning the serial killer label—though there is a good argument toward several of them already fitting the definition—and though they may be lovable, it's best never to forget exactly what they are. The men who love them won't.

But I digress.

The point is, the trigger warnings aren't to be taken lightly.

For those who want to take a look at them BEFORE reading the excerpt...

Here you go:

Now that that's done, if you're still here, it's time for the fun stuff!

In case you missed it, here's the blurb:

Survival can change a boy to a man.

Or a man to a killer.

But it takes more for him to become truly lethal. The ability to deliver a blow so fatal, even the most powerful target draws their very last breath. And it’s a very fine line between those particular sets of skills being used for good. Or for evil.

Elliot Orlovschi can’t say on which side of that line he belongs. As one of Eros’ Eight—mercenaries trained to use lust as a deadly lure—his goals have always been simple. Protect the brother he claimed and put the most corrupt bastards in the ground.

He loves his job, but he has no illusions about how twisted he is when his only pleasure comes from spilling blood.

Until he meets Damon Burrows, a bodyguard who took the wrong client at the wrong time. Stabbing him with a pencil should’ve been the end of it, but Damon isn’t like the lowlife he works for. His sacrifice to save Elliot’s brother leaves him clinging to life.

Keeping him alive puts Elliot into serious debt—a debt he can only repay by taking the most dangerous jobs, whether or not he’s ready for the challenge. His handlers and his friends all tell him the cost is too high, but he doesn’t give a damn.

Because after Damon steals his way into Elliot’s heart.

There’s no way in hell he’ll ever let him go.

And now for the excerpt!

Enjoy! <g>

“Damon? I want to not think about this now. Please, can you…?”

The other man didn’t seem sure what he was asking for, but Damon knew. Standing and leaning over Elliot, he curved his hand around the back of Elliot’s neck. Slanted their lips together with enough pressure to draw a gasp from Elliot.

A sharp prick against the base of his throat told Damon he’d caught his dangerously sexy guardian angel off guard. With what’d just happened with Lux, Elliot was feeling vulnerable. There was no telling what he’d do, and the knife pressed to Damon’s throat was very sharp.

But for some fucked up reason, he wasn’t afraid. “Open for me, my clingy little python. You want me here, you want me to help you to stop thinking? I can do that for you. But unless you intend to bleed me out, I’m going to kiss you until you can’t breathe.”

The knife cut a little deeper as Elliot’s hand, which was always steady, no matter what he was doing, trembled. “Fuck…this shouldn’t be so hot. Aren’t you scared I’ll hurt you?”

“You are hurting me, but I can take it.” Damon flicked his tongue over Elliot’s bottom lip, tightening his grip on his hair. “And you need me to give you this. You’re not in control, baby. You don’t have to be, not right now.”

All the tension seeped out of Elliot, his eyes drifting shut as his lips parted under Damon’s. The knife stayed where it was, but the pressure eased, leaving only a slight sting and a wet heat. Ignoring it, Damon deepened the kiss, sliding his tongue over Elliot’s, exploring his mouth in lingering sweeps, the tingling sweetness within making him crave more.

Kissing had always been a means to the end in the past, but not with this man. He didn’t rush through it, mentally mapping out his surroundings for the closest hard surface to fuck Elliot against. Not that his dick wasn’t fully onboard with the idea, but he couldn’t focus on anything besides the lips under his and the soft moan that escaped Elliot as he surrendered completely.

The knife slipped from Elliot’s grasp and hit the floor with a metallic clink.

Then his phone buzzed.

And Elliot let out a low curse, grabbing the front of Damon’s shirt and shaking his head when he eased back. “Wait—”

“Nope. If that’s Gerard, you’re not missing the call.” Damon reached out and handed Elliot his phone without looking at the screen. “I like to set my limit at pissing off one deadly person a day.”

The edge of Elliot’s lips quirked as he took his phone. “That’s smart. And I think you need stitches, but…can we continue this…?”

Damon inclined his head, stroking his thumb over Elliot’s bottom lip. “Later.”

Soft lips surrounded his thumb, mischief sparking in Elliot’s eyes as he sucked.

Groaning, Damon pulled his hand away and moved out of reach. The torture of resisting the clear invite was so much worse than the quick death he’d get from either Lux or Gerard, but looked like no one was having any fun today.

Unless Elliot let the call go to voicemail.

“Answer the damn phone. Now.”

NEW RELEASE and a NSFW excerpt from NO SHAME (Redemption's End Book Two)

This book...Gods, this book is something else! lol But it's finally here!

Before we jump into the excerpt, I just wanted to drop a quick note about what writing a demon with a bigger heart than he'll ever admit—along with two men who struggle to believe love can ever be safe or real—was like. Gunner is an interesting character, because he absolutely will use being a demon as his reason for doing...pretty much anything.

But he has a strong moral code and he cares so much it hurts sometimes. I wanted to shake him and tell him 'If you stop pushing everyone away, you won't feel so alone!'

He needed to learn that on his own, though.

And he has an incredible found family to help him get there.

Without erasing the fact that he is a demon, and they don't live in a gentle land of fluffy bunnies and hourly hugs, this story was going to be gritty, intense, and sometimes a little scary.

The passion and the love are strong enough to survive in this world, though.

One that is exactly like ours...with a lot more magic.

And dragons! ;)

I can't wait to hear about what you think about this book! If you've already started the series, what are you most looking forward to? Who's your favourite character so far?

This is a HUGE book, at 180k, so it's all kinds of perfect for the long weekends and summer breaks coming up! Or, you know, just because you deserve some reading time. <g>

Happy Reading!

EXCERPT

Loving someone was a lot different than believing that love was returned. He still didn’t know for sure if Gunner did, the words hadn’t been spoken. He didn’t know why Gunner would, Jae had absolutely nothing to offer.

Wrapped up in those strong arms, surrounded by hellfire-veined tentacles, erased all doubt. Gunner didn’t need to say anything. His demon made him feel it, deep down in his core.

The reasons…didn’t really matter.

Except for the fact those feelings impacted Gunner more than Jae’d thought possible. He’d already seen that demons could get hurt, but he refused to be the cause of Gunner’s pain again. As much as he struggled to find any value in his own life beyond a currency for others, his demon cared what happened to him.

Which gave him something to fight for.

The slithering of the vines created a wet, rasping sound, as though more and more gathered in an attempt to crush him and Gunner. Worse, the air became harder to breathe. Too thin, straining his lungs with each inhale until a tentacle burned through a clump overhead, letting in a burst of moist air with a hint of smoky ash. Even if Lyric managed to regain control of his plants—he must’ve heard Gunner’s shout—he’d never make it before the things managed to kill Jae.

Not that Gunner would let that happen, but if he unleashed his powers, he could turn this place into a death trap for everyone inside. They might not be so lucky the next time they faced the basilisks—not all of them would survive—and there were even more dangerous things eager to cross over. A badly timed fissure could invite a demon, and as strong as his own was, an ancient one could kill Gunner with a snap of their fingers.

Face pressed to Gunner’s bare chest, thick muscles like a stone wall erected around him, Jae brought his hand to his cheek, encouraging the blood to flow. He spoke in a rush when Gunner tensed. “You can’t draw enough unnatural power without risking fissures, but you can tap into natural magic through me. Like Lyric did.”

“I’m not a pixie, snowflower.” Gunner bent down to lick his cheek, his appreciative hum quickening Jae’s pulse and sending a surge of lust down low. “Blood and sex are a fae’s secret sauce. What if you tap into my powers instead?”

Jae’s lips parted. “I’m not strong enough—”

“You’re mine, of course you are.” Gunner made it sound so matter-of-fact, his cockiest smile in his tone as he eased back, tentacles shielding them from the grasping vines. “Besides, these things might survive a little frostbite and Lyric won’t be sad that we killed his babies. Unless I don’t have a choice. With how strong they are, they might be draining him and I’ll just have to toss the babies in the bonfire.”

“How is it possible you can be both thoughtful and ruthless all at once?”

Gunner winked at him, lifting his hand to his mouth and biting down with his sharp fangs. With blood spilling over his lava-like skin, he looked every inch the most terrifying demon imaginable. “It’s a specialty of mine. Here, have a sip. I’m delicious.”

I absolutely should not find that so…damn…sexy.

Accepting Gunner’s cupped hand, Jae sipped the coppery liquid, forcing himself not to think too hard about gulping down his demon’s blood like the sweetest liquor. Hot enough to burn his tongue at first, drinking deep brought the flavor of strong honey spiced whiskey, only thick as syrup. And intoxicating, but his mind became clearer with every sip, dark magic flowing through his blood to mingle with his own.

While not wrong about some fae using both sex and blood to access more natural magic than they could otherwise, only unseelie ever touched the latter. Among the Golden Court, one common conspiracy theory was that vampires came from a match gone wrong between the Dark Court and demons. Seelie believed only the high born came by powerful magic without ‘cheating’ and anyone who practiced blood magic was shunned.

Sex magic was tolerated, but just barely. A fae family could find its entire household socially outcast if it was rumored any member participated in ritualistic orgies to elevate their standing, or for spells deemed unnecessary.

Jae would become Courtless if word got out about half the things he’d done since becoming a draftee.

The idea didn’t frighten him as much as it had only yesterday.

Licking his lips, he gazed up at Gunner, reaching out to brush his fingers over the closest vines. The smooth green tendrils writhed and pulsed under his fingertips, moisture gathering and solidifying, frost spreading along with a thick layer of ice. It cracked as the vine attempted to draw away, but he sent out stronger slivers of magic until it froze all the way through.

“More.” Jae shook his head when Gunner offered his hand again, rising up on his tiptoes to cover Gunner’s blood slicked lips with his own. He groaned and nodded as Gunner brought a tentacle down to defly remove his boots and lower his jogging pants, lifting him up with another so he could wrap his legs around Gunner’s waist. “Fuck… Gunner…”

“I’ve got you.” Gunner’s tongue glided over his, his groan vibrating everywhere their bodies touched. “Mmm, you’re so pretty all messy, my wicked little snowflower. And using that naughty word. Say it again.”

A flush went over Jae, like it always did when he swore because that language had been considered worse than many other crimes growing up. His mother wouldn’t scold him or his siblings, she’d treat them like they were lesser, beneath her notice until she believed the message was received.

But when Gunner’s teeth skimmed down his throat, teasing the sensitive skin there with his sharp fangs, her judgment was the last thing on his mind. A sharp bite drew another gasp. “Fuck! Just fucking take me, demon.”

His evil demon chuckled and nipped his earlobe. “I will. And I’m not letting you go again.”

The power, the blood, dashed all Jae’s inhibitions as he gripped vines in both hands while Gunner used a slick tentacle to prepare him. Lifting himself up on the stiff stalks of ice, he threw his head back when his demon positioned his thick length, one arm around his waist guiding him down until he stretched over on the head of his demon’s dick.

Deeper…so much deeper, Gunner took him all the way, filling him with a hard thrust, his hot breath against Jae’s lips contrasting with the cold spreading all around them. Every time he lifted himself with the frozen vines, Gunner dragged him back down, meeting him halfway so the impact slammed into him.

More power than he’d ever touched poured into him, but he hardly noticed it, letting it fulfill its purpose while his demon parted his thighs further and angled his hips, his pace rough and relentless. Each penetration almost punishing, like Gunner reminded him who he belonged to. And wanted to make sure, this time, he didn’t forget.

For this kind of reality melting pleasure, Jae would take his punishment without complaint, as often as his demon wanted to give it to him. His hands slipped on the ice when Gunner bit down on his shoulder, right through his hoodie, gliding over his prostate as his fangs broke skin, the sensation bursting through his core turning pain into the most decadent bliss.

Catching him, Gunner sucked lightly on his shoulder, then brushed his blood slicked lips along his throat. “If I didn’t love you so much, I’d fucking eat you alive.”

Gasp muffled against his forearm, Jae waited for Gunner to correct himself, but his demon continued to devour him, as though he hadn’t rocked Jae’s whole world by saying what they’d both probably have avoided for many more months. Feeling it was one thing, he really didn’t need to hear the word, but since he had, he couldn’t help lock it away in his thawing heart for keeps.

Even if that precious word was just said in the heat of the moment…

It’s more than enough.

Lengthening his thrusts, one hand between Jae’s shoulder blades and tentacles holding him bowed back, his demon spread him out, restraining his wrists so he could do nothing but accept the pounding that cleared all thoughts from his head. His hoodie split under the fiery touch of a tentacle, the fabric falling away to expose every inch of him. Almost as though Gunner served himself up his favorite kind of sacrifice, bending down to bite Jae’s chest, right above his left nipple, while his tentacles teased both nubs, another circling his dick and his balls.

And the last…

Jae whimpered, the sensation of the slick tip of the tentacle pressing against his stretched hole making him jerk away and press back. Almost too much…too fucking much, but also…

“Please…” He writhed in Gunner’s hold, desperately begging for…something. For everything. “Gods, I can’t…I can’t…”

“You can.” Gunner kissed the bloody teeth marks he’d left on Jae’s chest, his bright green eyes reflecting the red glow of his skin as he rocked his hips at a slower pace. The tip of the tentacle sank in a little more with every motion, his gaze locking with Jae’s like he didn’t want to miss a second of him coming undone. “And when you’re with me, you will. Every time, my little snowflower. If you need to hide behind a wall of ice from the rest of the world, I won’t stop you. But if you try to put it between us again, I will make it shatter.”

Pressure against his prostate made him cry out, shattering like it was his entire core Gunner had promised to wreck, rather than the nonexistent wall. Pooling inside him, bursting in a thousand tiny flames along his nerves, the pleasure ignited until he glowed inside and out, just as hot as his demon. Lingering power shimmered on his skin in silver threads, snowflakes dancing in the space where all the vines that weren’t frozen had retreated.

Gathering him to his chest, Gunner groaned and slammed in one last time, whispering soft nonsense in Jae’s ear as his oversensitive body tensed, the last of his strength leaving him with the effort to remain somewhat solid. When his demon withdrew, the emptiness pulled a very undignified sound from Jae’s throat.

Not exactly a whine, but close enough.

“You’ve successfully ruined me, demon.” Jae smiled a little at Gunner’s very satisfied smirk. “How am I ever to show my face in front of the Golden Court again?”

Gunner kissed Jae’s lips, then his cheeks, lowering him to the edge of an empty wood ledge before bracing his hands on either side of him. “I mean, you might want to clean the blood off first—”

“You are perfectly aware that is not what I mean.”

“True. Should I pretend to give a fuck?” Gunner’s brow furrowed slightly. “I will if it’ll make you feel better. Abandoning everything you know isn’t easy—believe me, I’ve been there. But I can’t just stand by anymore and watch you throw your life away. Watch you stepped on by those fucking royals. Not now that I know why you were with Icarus in the first place.”

Bringing his hand to his demon’s cheek, Jae shook his head. “No, I don’t want you to pretend. Seelie…fae in general were once incapable of lying, but after generations of warping the truth until it became unrecognizable, until every word was nothing but sugar-coated poison, those restrictions faded. Along with much of our purest magic. I clung to the stories of who my people were, what my duty was, even when I struggled to believe it. Now I’m part of something I do believe in, but I thought…”

“That you’d have to give it up.” Gunner sighed, stroking Jae’s hair away from where it stuck to the sweat on his brow. “I should’ve figured something was up. But now that we’re being all honest with each other, that shit’ll never happen again. You’re right, I probably ruined you as far as the prissy fuckers are concerned. They’ll be able to smell the demon stink on you a mile away.” He picked up Jae’s jogging pants from where they’d gotten trampled in the dirt and helped him slide them on. “I’m not sorry.”

NEW RELEASE and an excerpt from NO ESCAPE (Redemption's End Book One)

A couple days past release day, but I got a nasty cold that's slowed down all the stuff and things I need to do. So far testing negative for the great big C, so fingers crossed it stays that way.

Not gonna stop me from celebrating though. This book has been in the works for two years and I'm so happy to FINALLY have it out of the deep, dark cave of wonders where WIPs get stashed away like hidden treasures.

I'm not sorry it took that long though, because giving the story and these characters a chance to really grow in my mind and develop as much as they did was worth it. The excitement of writing a story where the characters are so fleshed out all you have to do is let them lead the way is pure magic.

And with a book like this, that kind of magic wasn't an option.

Before I share the excerpt with you, I want to bring up something a few readers have told me. Some hesitated to dive in because of what they thought the book would be, but were pleasantly surprised. I'm really grateful to those who gave it a chance based on what they've read from me in the past. That means more than I can possibly say.

To me, this is a monster romance because of some of the elements in the story and the characters being, well, what's typically called 'Monsters' lol. But it doesn't follow a lot of the trends of the genre.

To put it bluntly, if you're looking for a Monster Fucker story, you'll probably be disappointed. This isn't a story about a human getting it on with something big, hot, and scary—though some of those stories are amazing!

This is a story about different kinds of monsters falling in love and fighting to protect their home. The friendships and found family is essential, the danger is very real, and while there's some angst, all of these men come to understand that if they can't count on their team, they might not survive.

You won't get The Big Misunderstanding keeping lovers apart for long.

I've got a bit of a communication kink. ;)

None of the characters are perfect—as one in particular would tell you 'I'm a demon.'—but even in their imperfection, you can feel the love and support.

And in a world where even the monsters have to face the stuff of nightmares? Those bonds are what keep hope alive.

Speaking of hope, I hope you love this story as much as I do and I can't wait to get to book two! But more news on that later.

For now, here's the excerpt.

Happy Reading!

EXCERPT

Smoothing his hand down Edric’s side, Axton brought him back to the present, giving him a concerned look. “You good?”

Edric nodded, inhaling and letting the air out slowly before he shifted. “Yes, I was just thinking of how…different this place used to be. I’m glad I get to show it to you now that we’ve all personalized it a little, it’s much more welcoming.” He gestured to the door to the right of his, which was now Boone’s room. “That room used to be mine, but my men insisted I take the biggest one. All of the rooms have been expanded—there used to be twice as many, with steel doors and plain white tiles on the floors. It was almost…”

“Institutional?” Axton glanced down the hall as though trying to picture it. “That must’ve sucked. I mean, my apartment wasn’t anything special, but it was my own space and I spruced it up as much as I could. I even grabbed some paint cans the local hardware store tossed. Weird colors, but was kinda cool once I slapped them on the walls. Better than plain ol’ white.”

For the first time, Edric was extremely grateful Mickey and Fender had kept on his case until he let them loose in his rooms with some paint. He couldn’t choose between blue and purple, so they’d used both throughout the space and he loved how it had turned out.

But he hadn’t consulted either on his choice of furniture, which Mickey was ‘extremely distressed’ about. Edric thought it looked fine, but maybe Axton would find it tacky? Or worse…boring?

Slipping his hand in Edric’s and lacing their fingers together, Axton gave him a questioning look. “Do you always stand in the hallway naked?”

“Sometimes, if I’m in the middle of a conversation with one of my men.” Edric’s brow furrowed when the fae snickered and shook his head. “What?”

“Nothing, just still getting used to the nudist colony vibe.” Axton glanced over at the door. “Umm…did you change your mind about me being here?”

Edric took another deep breath. “No.”

“Then…?” Axton chewed on the edge of his bottom lip. “You know I’m not gonna judge you, right? I can’t see you being a slob, but you’re a busy guy. Just kick your dirty underwear under the sofa and I’ll pretend not to notice.”

Laughing—damn, he loved how his little shadow made it easy to laugh again—Edric reached out to open his door, motioning Axton in ahead of him. “No dirty underwear, except for in the hamper. This is just…my home.”

A few quick steps brought Axton to the center of the living room, and he spun in a circle, lips slightly parted. He didn’t seem weirded out or disappointed, more…amazed.

His next words confirmed it. “This place is awesome. And it’s fucking huge. This is all yours?” He didn’t wait for an answer before darting across the room, almost tripping over a glass topped, driftwood end table and stumbling against the light gray sectional. “Are those real fish? Holy hells, look at those colors.”

Soaking in Axton’s excitement, Edric crossed the room to join him in front of the massive tank. “Yes, they’re guppies. I also had a betta in there to keep the fry population down, but I think Scout took him out again. He’s probably in the smaller tank in my bedroom.”

“I don’t understand half of what you just said, but… Guppies!” Axton wiggled his fingers near the tank, but didn’t tap on it—something that had almost gotten Hershey’s finger bitten off the first time he’d come in here. Several fish weaved in and out of the plants swaying in the water, the long lamp above making the rainbow sheen of their scales glimmer, and Axton’s eyes filled with wonder. “I gotta show this to Lyric, he’s gonna love it. And Nicky, too. Mind if we all swing by some day?”

Edric wrapped his arms around Axton, following his gaze when he gasped, a dozen tiny white fry bursting out from between the leaning driftwood, much smaller than the pieces he’d chosen for his coffee table and his end tables. He figured it tied the room together, but Mickey only gave him a pained look when he said so.

“I wouldn’t mind at all.” Edric rested his chin lightly on Axton’s soft brown hair, the ends skimming his arms as his little shadow followed the excitable fish with his eyes. “I’ve only had them for about a year, but I’ve wanted fish since I was a kid. My mother thought the idea of pets having pets was…silly.”

Tipping his head back, Axton gave him an understanding smile. “My mom was suspicious of everything being Otherkin in disguise—I wasn’t even allowed going in the pet store, but I snuck in a few times. Her seelie side came out when she talked about stuff like that. Not that she was mean or anything, my mom was…” He swallowed hard and looked back at the fish. “She was amazing. I miss her, but…I think it’s cool for me to enjoy your fish.”

“I think so, too. I find them relaxing—not that I have much time to sit around and watch them. Either Fender or Scout swing by to care for them when I’m away on missions. Only feeding them really, the tank is self-sustaining, but they seem to enjoy the company.” Edric made a thoughtful sound. “You could do it sometimes if you’d like?”

Nodding enthusiastically, Axton spun around, grabbing his hand and tugging him toward one of the three doors in the short hall. “I’d love that. But you said you have another tank in your bedroom? Can we check it out?”

“Absolutely.” Edric chuckled as he opened the first door. “I might as well put some clothes on, since you’re more interested in my fish than anything else. I don’t blame you, they’re beautiful, but when a man drags me to my bedroom it’s usually for an entirely different reason.”

Axton gave him a sideways look, still holding his hand tight as he went right to the tank against the wall across from the foot of the bed. “You got lots of guys dragging you in here?”

“Not ‘lots’...” Edric’s lips twitched when Axton’s eyes narrowed at him. “I’m teasing—you make it too easy. Whatever you’ve been imagining after talking to Mickey, that was a one time thing. My men need me to lead them, not put them on my ‘fuck-it’ list. And I don’t participate in the group orgies.”

‘Cute’ wasn’t a word Edric would use to describe Axton very often, but the blush spreading over his cheeks while he visibly attempted to play it cool was adorable. Clearing his throat, he stared at the fish again. “There’s ‘group orgies’? That part of the class schedule?”

Edric spat out a laugh, turning Axton toward him and bringing his lips over Axton’s smiling ones. When Axton’s breath caught, his pulse picking up as he rose up on his tiptoes to chase the kiss before Edric could end it, Edric’s fingers found the buttons of the borrowed shirt covering his little shadow.

The fish were forgotten at that first needy sound. Fuck, the siren’s song had nothing on how the little noises Axton made affected him. At times, the fae was almost shy, but when he pushed past it, his passion stirred Edric’s in a way he hadn’t felt since he was young.

He’d been insatiable with Jethro, and there’d been others over the years, but becoming part of the Guard taught him a level of discipline he’d been proud to say wasn’t impacted by lust. The emotions his mother warned him as a child would make him weak were successfully locked away, especially when he’d been under Anathan’s thumb.

Leadership hadn’t given him the freedom to indulge in many pleasures, but allowing himself to care for his men actually made him stronger. A team built from trust and love was much more powerful than one forged from blind obedience.

And letting himself feel all those emotions showed him he wouldn’t be satisfied with anything shallow. He didn’t need the promise of forever, but once the sheets cooled, he needed to know there was more between him and his lovers than chemistry.

With Axton, there was already so much more. He was still wary of his little shadow’s desire for freedom overpowering whatever they shared, but even if Axton did try to escape again, he wouldn’t regret a moment they’d spent together.

But fuck, it would hurt.

The logical choice, the choice a leader should make, would be to let this be a bit of casual fun and set up some firm boundaries, like he’d done with Mickey. Axton was still paying for the chaos he’d instigated, the harm he’d caused—birthday wishes and Edric giving him a free pass aside—and there was no telling what the young fae would do when he wasn’t being influenced by Edric, or contained by his cell.

Edric couldn’t make decisions as anything other than a man when he held Axton, though. And he refused to push him away now that he had him.

Tomorrow’s pain would be worth having tonight.

Bringing his little shadow’s naked body up against his, Edric held him with one arm while they kissed and carried him toward the bathroom. He maintained enough presence of mind to turn on the large overhead shower in the stall he was grateful Mickey and Jethro ignored him about being ‘fine as it was’. The old one wouldn’t have fit two so comfortably and the wide-eyed surprise from Axton was fun to watch.

And feel, because he kept coming back for another taste of Edric’s lips between taking in the space around him. “This is…fuck, I can’t believe…how did you…?” He inhaled roughly, visibly shaking off the spell of lust and giving Edric a suspicious look. “I love this, all of it, and I’m grateful that you’re letting me check out your space and all, but…” Water dripped over his furrowed brow as he brought his fingers to the natural stone wall, and he slid his toes back and forth over the smooth rocks making up the shower floor. “Did you use magic to make this, because that’s kinda fucked up. You hunt us because we might use too much, but you’re—”

“None of this is magic, my little shadow.” Raking his soaked strands away from his face, Edric pulled out the extendable shower head, testing the temperature before letting a soft flow spill over the tattoo on Axton’s chest. “Most of the renovations done to my rooms happened while I was away, and cost more than I want to think about, but all of my men pitched in either the time or money to make it what it is now. You’re right, it wouldn’t be fair for us to hold ourselves to different standards. Gunner—and I, to a lesser degree—can sense when power is being drawn from beyond this realm to a dangerous level and all the Guard are taught to avoid it. Just like you’ll be taught. If something can be done with our own two hands, we do it.”

Axton tossed his hair back, darkened and brushing a bit past his shoulders now that it was wet. The edge of his lips crept up. “Okay, I get it and…I’m even more impressed. Jethro’s got mad skills, and Mickey doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty. I’m starting to like you guys more than I thought I would.” He curved his hand against the side of Edric’s neck. “You can keep kissing me now.”

Somehow, between exploring Axton’s mouth and his smooth, wiry body, Edric managed to get them both washed with the soap and shampoo he’d left on the bench the morning before. The aroma of vanilla and sandalwood filled the steamy air around them, the more territorial side of Edric’s beast rumbling with pleasure at the fae being covered in ‘his’ scent.

Turning Axton to face the wall, hands braced against the smooth stone, Edric kissed down his back, loving how his muscles twitched and his breath caught with each brush of his water-slicked lips and teeth over his skin. As he got lower, he appreciated, more than ever, what a successful thief his little shadow had been. Axton might be slender, but the perfect swell of his ass proved he’d rarely, if ever, gotten to the point of starving.

Hands spreading open those luscious cheeks, thumbs framing that tight little hole, Edric knelt on the shower floor and flicked his tongue lightly over the tender bundle of nerves.

“Oh…oh Gods, you…” Axton braced his forehead against the wall. “I’m taking notes, you know. Gonna torture you right back like this one day.”

Edric chuckled, licking Axton again before dipping his tongue past the ring of muscle. His little shadow would be sore after tonight, but he intended to make sure it only made him crave more. So he took his time, fucking Axton with his tongue until his cries echoed against the shower walls.

“I take it back. Not…not torture. Need you… Need… Edric, please…I need you.”

Some personal notes, What's Coming Next, and a Cover Reveal!

If you ever see me without several projects going at once, I'm probably nursing the muse back to health after he's been through some things lol Usually one too many projects and not enough rest!

2023 kicked my ass, and things had been rough for a while. I was handling a lot on my own and it wasn't until I got a few things off my plate that I remembered who I am and what I'm capable of. Like most authors, I've had my fair share of crappy jobs, I've tried out different things, but I always come back to needing to write like my life depends on it. Because it does.

Giving voice to so many different characters, building worlds, exploring love and friendship and found family is at the core of every story I write. I love sharing these stories with readers, but as I've said before, staying true to the story always comes first. If I feel I can't give a story my all, I'd rather shelve it for the moment and come back to it when I'm in a better place to do just that.

Which is exactly why some of the books I'm working on now ended up gathering dust. I started off super excited about them, but life tripped me up, I got overwhelmed, and I refused to spread myself too thin and give less than my best.

But now that one series is over, I'm living somewhere where I don't have to do everything on my own, that excitement, that spark, is back.

And those stories that deserved my full attention have got it.

One of those stories is an urban-fantasy-slash-monster-romance. It's a HUGE project, with a massive cast of characters, and the ideas flow so fast I actually have to keep a notebook by my bed to jot things down when they won't let me sleep. Which hasn't happened since I was writing The Cobras—which I'm also working on, but more on that later.

I actually started this book...about two years ago I think? If not longer? I underestimated how big it would be and the characters didn't have room to grow with everything else I had going on. They couldn't speak loud enough to be heard over all the noise. But now that they can?

 We're on a roll, baby! <g>

Without further ado, here is the revamped cover for No Escape (Redemption's End Book One). Unlike the original version, it's not hiding what it is. And future covers will follow the same vein, with every beast and tricky fae and demon—with and without tentacles—getting their moment in the spotlight.

 Here's the blurb:

One chance.

One mistake.

And Axton Hawthorn’s already reached his limit. As a courtless shadow fae on his own, with only his skills as a thief to keep him alive, Axton has nothing to fight for besides his freedom.

Until he’s imprisoned for his crimes, then has his prison break foiled by an order of supernaturals who keep exposure from humans to a minimum—or something like that. He wasn’t really paying attention until the last part. His choices are simple.

Join them or die.

Yeah...he’ll look for another option until they give him a damn good reason not to.

Edric ‘King’ Kingston should never have been allowed into the High Guard in The Géillsin. Hellhounds are meant to be chained in the apocalyptic demon realm, not secretly protecting the human one as a high ranking soldier. Leading reluctant young law breakers and teaching them to use their skills for the good of their kind isn’t what he would’ve signed up for, but it’s all he has left to give to prove he’s not the cursed creature he was born as.

He owes his life to one man. To a moment when someone saw more in him. The only way to pay that debt is to make sure the man’s son survives.

Falling for Axton would be a very bad idea. He’s reckless and defiant. Forces the order to make new rules he can’t work his way around. But Edric can’t look away from the trainwreck he’s brought to the doorstep of the place that represents everything he believes in.

And hope Axton’s presence will even their odds against forces threatening to destroy everything they’ve built.

While the man he can’t stay away from seems determined to watch it burn.

Keep an eye on this space for more news about the release date. Until then, if you want a taste of this story, you can read the FIRST FIVE chapters on Radish for FREE.

Here's the link: Radish: No Escape (Redemption's End Book One)

If you don't do reading apps, but want a sneak peek of the story, you can jump onto my discord server and get a nice taste to tide you over until the book comes out.

Discord: I'm No Angel Server

Now, for those who need to know what's happening with the Cobras—and hey, thanks for reading all the way through!—no worries. Our guys have been talking to me, too. Thus the whole 'several projects going' thing I mentioned lol

White, Pisch, and Justina's novella is coming out soon, and after that we have a novella for Sloan, Max, and Oriana. Then there will be the last full length book in the Cobra series.

But it will NOT be the last we see of our team, because I have several spinoffs planned. There's still so much story to be told with all these beloved characters and I'm nowhere near ready to say goodbye to any of them.

So now you're all caught up! I'm not gonna promise a whole lot of blog posts, because working on all this is gonna take up every spare minute, but if you're in my group or discord, you'll get to follow along with all my crazy. Please don't be shy to give me a shout out and I'd love to hear what you're most excited about!

Also, if you get a chance to comment on Radish chapters, or leave reviews on Amazon, Kobo, or wherever you read my books, it would be greatly appreciated. It helps keep my stuff from getting buried and it means more than I can say.

I hope you're having an amazing week and finding tons of books to fall in love with! If you're into truly dark books (all the trigger warnings!) check out the Fallocaust Series by Quil Carter. Right now, I've just finished a reread of that series and I'm on to Scum (Wrong Side of the Tracks Book One) by K.A. Merika. Still edgy, but light enough to be a break from the epic depravity that is the Fallocaust.

But mostly I'm writing all the words and I'm so freakin' excited to have something new to share with you!

Happy Reading!

Saying Goodbye to The Asylum-Release of Past Justice: Book 4

Some have heard this already, and for others, it might come as a blow. But The Asylum series has reached its conclusion.

There are a lot of reasons why I decided not to pursue the opportunity I was given to continue writing this series on my own. It's not because of lack of story, every single reader sees the potential there. But it was time to let go. Time to accept there was a pattern repeating itself that was insurmountable.

But since I wrote this massive book without focusing on that, I'm not going to share it with that as a center point. No matter what went wrong, the priority for me was finishing this storyline that showed not only Garet, Ezran, and Sin's HEA, but how The Asylum, the men who started it, impacted their lives and the lives of everyone around them.

I'm going to touch on spoilerish territory, but bear with me. Noah's story, along with Lawson, Curtis, and Jared, was always central to The Asylum. Because it was Noah's dream first, where he was at in his life had a huge impact on whether or not that dream thrived. Whether it would ever become what it was meant to be. In Past Justice, you see him realizing his view of himself, of his ability to heal and grow, reflected on the young man he'd saved as a child, who was pretty much his son. A young man who came too close to reliving the life he had.

Ezran's story could never reach a HEA without someone stepping in and saying 'No. I won't let you deal with what I did. You get a fresh start.'

I'm not sure if I accomplished what I hoped to, but I feel like I did. The past and the present came full circle and these men who've been through so much could finally give themselves permission to love each other. And themselves.

There were a lot of other plot threads I touched on and tried to tie up, and I hope you'll be able to enjoy those as well. As much fun as it was to have the double meaning of 'The Asylum', in the end, it was always meant to be a haven for found family, for protection, for love. And I hope you feel that when you get to The End.

Here's all the deets for you to grab the book. Link to keep in touch and find out what I'm up to will come right after, so be sure to scroll down. And I hope you're having an amazing weekend!

Sex, drugs, and a side of murder.

Taking a pass on the last two should be easy, except Sinaan 'Sin' Persaud is determined to become the Dom for a sub recovering from one, and a switch still addicted to the other. Not a task he has to take on alone, but navigating well-intentioned big brothers could get tricky. And being one himself? Makes it hard not to do some meddling of his own.

Not quite business as usual.

When the subs return to The Asylum, there is nothing they want more than to get back to their own brand of normalcy. But between a new threat in Anniston Falls and overprotective Doms at every turn, each is left with only one option. Discover a new taste for BDSM lite…

Or remind the men they love exactly who they're playing with.

Results may vary, but in the end, they all get what they need.

A welcome home to remember.

New Release Past Justice Book 3 (The Asylum Fight Club)

The day will come when a release goes smoothly and I manage to keep on top of all the things.

But today is not that day! lol

I completely missed posting about PJ Book 2, but hopefully you've seen it in the newsletter or other alerts. If not, you're in for a treat!

You were also left with a huge cliffhanger, so getting this book to you was a priority. The journey continues with all our favourites from The Asylum.

Despite the cold the subs are trapped in, their love for one another helps them through the harshest conditions in the fight for survival. And no matter what's thrown at them, the tenderness and warmth built from connections with this found family can't be beaten down.

To recover what's been lost means a new beginning.

But starting from scratch doesn't usually involve so much snow. Garet Kincaid never expected to be allowed back into The Asylum. Or to rekindle young love with something stronger. Something fueled by trust, acceptance...

And a little bit of staying alive.

This doesn't end until every one of them can find their way home.

Temptation blurs the path, illusions of safety lead to danger, and each choice comes with a consequence. Back at the Club, the Doms take a new approach to providing what their subs need from a distance. Every hint of success pushes them closer and closer to the edge of their own limits to complete each task.

The question: How far are they willing to go?

And the answer is simple.

All. The. Way.

NEW RELEASE: Past Justice: Part One (The Asylum Fight Club) with EXCERPT

Late as usual, but I'm excited to share the latest release in the Asylum Fight Club Saga!

Readers find this series downright addictive, so if you haven't dived in yet, you're in for a treat!

This is not a beautiful love story.

But there is beauty in the darkness, and a love within family forged in blood, pain, regret, and triumph. To start here is to slip back to where it all began. From the boy who embraced a tempting nightmare to escape a hopeless reality, to the men who came together to find a home where even the most fragile heart, or the most depraved one, can be made whole.

The Asylum is more than a fight club.

Two teens raised within this haven drift away from the core of all it has to offer, drawn back as adults to find what they lost. One man, Sinaan 'Sin' Persaud, can bring them together, but only once he uncovers the war waged within the walls where romance can bring the sweetest pain and pleasure comes from indulging in things most speak of only in whispers. To first claim Garet Kincaid, he must join the young man on a road to redemption that began before he was even born.

To understand the challenges they all face is to explore a history dangerously close to repeating itself.

And expose the lies and secrets threatening to tear the foundation from the roots.

Excerpt:

Noah always relaxed way too easy around Jared. Why? Because he didn’t lie. Maybe there were times Noah missed when people did lie, but rarely. He’d been working on finding those little clues his whole fucking life. Because lies…lies were dangerous. Lies meant the whole reality around him would collapse, leaving him vulnerable.

Which was unacceptable.

Being vulnerable with Jared would be by choice. Not like he had the first fucking clue how to be, but…something inside him wanted it. He reached out and put his hand in Jared’s. “I don’t understand why it’s…like this with you. When you’re not here it’s like, inside me is all coiled up. Then you’re here and I…can let that go. I know it sounds stupid.”

“Does it? We all need a safe space. I’m flattered I’m yours.” Warm hand squeezing Noah’s fingers, Jared leaned in. He slowly lifted one hand, gaze questioning before he brought it to Noah’s cheek, brushing a crumb from his lips with the pad of his thumb. “I won’t always be your Dom, but I promise you this. I will never be far again. When you need me, I will be there. For one year, if you agree, I will teach you everything I know, and then I will watch as you do the same with someone else. I love you, and because I do, I will let you go. When you are ready to fly.”

For a second, the touch had Noah stiffening. Not because Jared had never touched him, but because it was rare anyone did. When it happened, it usually hurt. Which didn’t bother Noah. Pain made sense. This was different, though. Soft and warm, not a pat on the shoulder or a hand brushed over his hair in the affectionate way he’d craved so much in Jared’s absence.

Relaxing a bit, Noah held still, prepared for Jared to move away from him, but wanting to hold the contact for as long as he could. “I…I love you, too. As much as someone like me can love anyone. I won’t ever be ready, though. When you let me go, I’ll be waiting for you to come back. Like I always do.”

Jared’s thumb moved up to Noah’s cheek, tracing the plane of his face until he was surrounded by the warmth of Jared’s palm. “Then that is an unfathomable amount of love, because you love more completely and more deeply than any person I’ve ever known. I will treasure that gift until my last breath. There is no coming back, for me, because I will always be right here. By your side.”

“Good.” Noah met Jared’s eyes, giving him a slanted smile. He was pushing his luck, but why shouldn’t he? There was no better time than when they were being honest with each other. “If you’re not out of the military, I want you to quit. I want you somewhere safe. I want…” His voice caught and he pressed his eyes shut. “I want to never see you hurt like this again. You almost left me for good. You can’t promise to be by my side if you die. It’ll be the first lie you’ve ever told me and I trust you, so don’t…don’t lie to me.”

“I had… I’ve been discharged.” The words grated across Jared’s vocal cords, like they cost him something to say, but perhaps not because he missed the military. His gaze grew briefly haunted before he banked down the emotion and stroked his fingers through Noah’s hair. “This is how I know you’re not a natural sub. Toppy thing. I will never lie to you, but I won’t live forever. None of us will. However long I have, I am in your service. If only so I can watch you soar.”

Grinning, Noah moved a little closer and let out a quiet sound in the back of his throat, enjoying the way Jared touched his hair. Maybe he really did remind Jared of a tiger, one not quite tame, but he could still pet. He didn’t mind that at all. “Shut up about dying. You’re a doctor, you’ll figure out a way around it. And cats don’t soar. I’m agreeing to be your sub, but you can’t order me to grow wings.”

That earned his hair a tiny, painless tug. “Cheeky. It’s a good thing you’re not wearing my collar yet.” Jared glanced toward the door. “Rhodey is going to be pissed that he actually has to put up those bunk beds in here. I meant it when I said I’m not leaving your side.”

“Bunk beds?” Noah lifted up a bit to stare into those icy blue eyes. Was the man joking? “No. One bed. You’ll sleep with me.” He looked over at the plain, solid metal bed frame with its flimsy mattress. Too small for two people. Which could be easily fixed. “I bet he’ll give us something nice, because you’ll be using it, too. But it might take him a few days to weld all the pieces together so I don’t try to make my own weapons out of it. Again.”

Releasing Noah’s hair, Jared leaned back to wag his finger at him with a playful cluck of his tongue. “No, no, tiger. If I share a bed with you, neither of us will get any sleep. You’ll earn that right, and many more. Starting with the one that gains us freedom from this cell by showing your uncle and me that you can behave.”

Well, that didn’t sound like much fun. Noah had a feeling he had a lot to learn about what being a sub actually meant. He rolled his eyes, closing the last of the distance between them, rubbing his cheek against Jared’s. “Do you really think putting me in another bed will save you? You’ll be lying there, thinking of me, just out of reach. Why not spare yourself being all hard and alone when you don’t have to wait at all?”

Turning his head that critical fraction of an inch, Jared brought his lips to Noah’s ear. “You forget. I have much more experience with denial. In fact...I get off on it. You never know.” His teeth skimmed the shell of Noah’s ear. “I might never fuck you.”

Noah eased back, sitting on his heels. He studied Jared’s face, not sure if he should go for strategy or seduction. The man was right. He had a lot of experience and Noah had…none. But he had a pretty good imagination. “You want to fuck me. Admit it. You’ve thought about all the things I’ve been telling you for months I want to do to you. Maybe not then, because it was so very wrong, but it isn’t anymore. You don’t want to deny yourself, you want to put me in my place.” He cocked his head. “Is on my knees good enough?”

NEW RELEASE: Broken Justice (The Asylum Fight Club Book 10)

Quick post because I'm doing all the things and 2022 is gonna be a HUGE year for releases.

But we're starting it up with a new one already!

Check it out <g>

Gun-for-hire River Capaldi's assignments at The Asylum should be pretty tame:

-Find a missing shrink.

-Collect intel.

-Make sure future holiday gatherings don't get bloody.

Only one problem. No one's rolling out the welcome mat until he proves he isn't a threat to the found family made up of a ragtag collection of fighters and their men. Thankfully, he's got some strong connections to smooth the way. And their trust comes with a few perks.

-His very own sub to protect.

-On-site accommodations.

-And front row seats for some sexy drama.

The longer River stays, the more drawn he is to this safe haven in the center of a brutal world. A few rounds in the ring becomes a seductive dance. Not a life he can indulge in long-term, but for the men he begins to think of as friends and lovers?

He'll sacrifice just about anything to keep it safe

Tattoo artist-in-training and non-toxic twin, Tayden Powell, enjoys the spot he's earned on the outskirts of The Asylum's core. Sure, there are times he wouldn't mind joining the inner circle, but at least he isn't neck deep in the danger they constantly face.

Until one wrong step has him drowning in it. And needing his very own merc bodyguard.

Temporary collars are coveted prizes among The Asylum subs, because they often lead to something more permanent, but Tay can tell River's got one foot out the door. And there's no way to build anything together on a foundation of secrets he can't share.

For now, Tay can have a bit of fun. Get a taste of what he's watched from the sidelines. So long as he follows his short-term Dom's one rule.

Don't fall in love.

TWO NEW RELEASES! One of them...IS A COBRA BOOK!

This has been a looong time coming, but I'm so happy I'm finally getting to share it with you all! So excited that I decided not to wait and spread out my releases. As one does! lol

For those who love The Cobras, you've been so awesome and patient and I'm very grateful for you coming along for the ride over these past...almost ten years?

Most importantly, the journey isn't over. Besides the 10th Dartmouth Cobra full length coming this fall, there are a few more shorts planned.

Then TWO spinoffs.

Life got in the way, making it hard to get these books out as soon as I wanted, but now I'm back on track. And the muse is being a sweetheart. Light a candle and send out some positive energy that he keeps it up!

Now for the book! I'll be adding links as they become available, so if you don't see your preferred store, it's coming!

Hardcore Training leads to a winning team.

Why should parenting be any different?

Luke Carter has messed up a lot of things in the past, but being a dad and a husband? He’s gonna get that right.

Practice should help, except there are strategies on the ice that work with unexpected scenarios that come up with a baby.

Or...two.

But if this family can figure out how to juggle diaper changes, bottles, and alternating naps, maybe they can manage the next step.

Making it down the aisle.

The other book released today is the latest in the Out of the Ring Asylum books. If you're not caught up on the series, make sure to check it out! The next full length is coming out next month!

Creating The Roughhouse Cafe is Matt Kincaid's dream come true. Even when the local gang gets too close for comfort. Or when a 'helpful' popstar's promo efforts have customers lining up around the block.

Matt's totally got this.

Maybe.

The Asylum subs come to the rescue, breaking a few rules in the process. And there's no keeping secrets from the Doms for long.

Kink and coffee apparently go together real well.

Both best when served up hot.

I hope you had an awesome week and enjoy your weekend!

Updates, thoughts, NEW RELEASE DAMASKED (New Rules Trilogy Book 3) and a MASSIVE SERIES SALE!

This release has been a long time coming and I'm so happy to FINALLY be able to share it with you!

The past few years had me taking a good hard look at my life, and my career. As we all know, sometimes things get to be more than we can handle, whether it's on a global scale, or more personal. I've always been so grateful to be able to be a full-time writer because it meant I could be here for my kids. The money's not great sometimes, but working from home and being present through some of the rough patches they've been through?

I don't think I truly understood how huge that was until this past year. A lot of people weren't so fortunate. They had to work dangerous jobs—some couldn't see their kids at all for long periods. We all do everything in our power to protect our kids and give them the best life we can.

And I've been able to do that because of amazing readers like you.

There have been times when I've wondered if I really should keep fighting so hard for this career. If maybe I just don't have it anymore—that thing that made The Dartmouth Cobras so popular. The changes in the publishing world hit a lot of people hard, and being self-pub meant taking the brunt of it with no clue how to get to the other side.

When it comes down to it, sometimes it's the difference between putting food on the table and being able to live out your dreams. Hard work isn't always enough. It doesn't matter how many hours you put in, no one's keeping track except for you.

BUT sometimes there's good changes that come at the exact right time. And that work ends up paying off. I've signed with two apps, and between that and some exciting new releases coming, things are seriously looking up!

So, yeah, long story short, I'll be able to keep doing this writing thing for a long time. And I can't freakin' wait to show you what's coming next!

One of those things is a book that's been a long time coming. The last book in the New Rules Trilogy, DAMASKED. I can't tell you how good it feels to get this out! Alec, Luther, and Xavier deserved their HEA!

You can grab the book HERE:
https://books2read.com/Damasked

You may hear whispers of a spinoff coming from my Patrons. Don't worry, I'll share everything about that soon, but if you want to get all the dirty details early, join HERE: https://www.patreon.com/BiancaSommerland

There's also a new Cobra short coming soon and the last full length Cobra book. More details in one of the next couple of posts, there's a lot going on! lol

Last, but not least is A MASSIVE SALE!

Tibby Armstrong was generous enough to put the entire series on sale, so a huge thank you to her. If you've been waiting to grab one of the books in the series, or start it, now's the time!

Find the whole series list HERE: The Asylum Fight Club on Amazon

These books are a bit long, but if you're a fast reader, you might be able to get through them all before the release of Broken Justice in August!

Don't forget to check out The Asylum Fight Club Blog for the latest part in Double The Heat by The Aslum. And join The Asylum Fight Club group to interact with other fans of the series.

There's so much going on, but what I'm most grateful for is it really feels, for the first time in a while, that I can accomplish just about anything if I just keep being the stubborn little thing y'all know I can be! lol

It's a powerful feeling, one I desperately needed.

Hope.

For those who stuck around for this whole post, thank you! I'm all post-release emotional and had to get that out. But now I'm gonna jump back in the writing cave, because the muse is being greedy with my time! <g>

Happy Reading!
