CockyGate and Who Does it Hurt? Also...READERS AREN'T STUPID!

Sorry, I had to add that last because I still can't believe any author would insult their own readers intelligence like that.

But I should probably start from the beginning.

I've made two videos covering this, which I highly recommend you check out, but to summarize, there is an author few have heard of-which has been pointed out happens more with KU authors, nothing against them, but there is a bit of a divide-claimed that others were trying to copy her book titles to use her fame to sell books. And it was confusing her readers, so she registered a trademark.

For the word 'Cocky'.

Since then, she's been sending threatening emails to authors who have 'Cocky' in their title. Even authors who had the title before her books were published. Strangely enough, she's only going after authors who can't afford to bring this to court.

This situation if huge, and ugly, but it sets a dangerous precedent that any author could claim any single word and eliminate the competition. Rather than books doing well on merit, you will see books by whoever had the money to trademark a word.

Which may sound ridiculous, but having money is already a huge game-changer in regards to promotion, artwork, visibility. This would be another hurdle for authors without the financial backing to jump over.

And that's just the beginning.

Courtney Milan wrote a threat covering the whole situation here:

I’ve had a bunch of people in my mentions ask me for a summary of #cockygate #byefaleena, so here goes...with links, and some new additions at the end.— Courtney!!! Milan

Some quick Updates, but not release dates so please don't yell at me I'm sorry and I'm working really hard...

There's a lot to cover, but I figured I'd get the biggest question out of the way with the title! *lolsob*.

Now for some stuff I can share now...

When I started doing videos, a lot of people asked me about doing some readings of my books. The discussion group voted and Solid Education was chosen. Thankfully, it's short, so I'll be able to read the whole thing over several videos. :)

If you're a fan of the book, or haven't read it yet, you can check Chapter One out here:

I also did a quick video commenting on some current events and showing how I do my eye-shadow. You can see that here:
Last, but not least, we have another Dartmouth Video coming. This time, the vote was for Sloan Callahan! I'm excited to talk more about him with you guys and answer some questions, so hit me with any you've got and I'll cover as many as I can!

I know a lot of you are waiting for updates on the next Cobra book. I promise, it's coming and I will let you know when I have an exact date. Life has thrown a few obstacles at me, as it tends to do...

But I'm pushing through it and excited to bring you guys some awesome new books over the next few months!

As well as some videos, which, if you missed me talking about them, are my way of connecting with you guys since I won't be doing any events this year. I hope you'll check them out and subscribe to my channel. I'll be doing some awesome giveaways for my subscribers as my channel continues to grow. To those who've been supporting me already, you have no idea how much that means to me! Thank you!

So let's do it together! :)

There's also a new book trailer for  Deadly Captive: The End that I will proudly say is creepy AF! <g>

HAPPY READING! <3

Get to know the Dartmouth Cobras: Dean Richter

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

I haven't posted in a little bit, because I don't want to post too often, but since so many people were asking for this, I had to share!

New series on my channel, answering questions about The Dartmouth Cobras, both players and all the people connected to the team.

By popular vote, the first one was DEAN RICHTER! :)

You can watch his video here:

I also did two other videos if you missed them.

My first reaction video:

And an author tag I created telling you some stuff and things about me!

Check them out and let me know what you think! I have a ton of fun making these videos, and I'll keep finding way to make them unique and interesting, so if you haven't already, consider subscribing and giving me a shout in the comments!

Have an amazing weekend! Hopefully I'll have some book updates for you soon, so keep an eye on this space. xoxo

10 Things You Don't Know about The Dartmouth Cobras

So many people asked for this one and it's been my favourite video yet! I didn't want to do a bunch of videos just talking about my own stuff, but doing some getting up close and personal with the Cobras I have absolutely no problem with! <g>

I didn't share my last video here, so if you missed it, here you go!

**NOTE** Some people have mentioned the sound is low on some of my videos and I'm really sorry about that. But I will be getting a new microphone in the next few days, so that will definitely be fixed!

Thank you to everyone who's been supporting me so far. I love finding new ways to connect with readers and this turned out even better than expected!

Happy watching and reading! <g>
